If they wanted a Leclerc victory, Spa would've been better.
But I guess the result is all that matters to these people, so we have to sit through a race that, while it has its moments, is far from a classic, just so they can re-show all that "Ferrari winning in Italy" passion on the podium

Ho hum....

This was the first win for Ferrari in Italy in a decade - I hate Ferrari but there is nothing comparable in F1 to this; No British team winning in Silverstone will be comparable. This is the first victory that Leclerc actually celebrated and this was a more exciting race than Belgium in my opinion as he had to hold Mercs by half a race rather than leading the race comfortably and having to push in the final 3 laps or so. This was a more exciting race and also is full of meaning beyond the race action itself - it is a classic by all means.

Spa can be called a classic too, but I don't think I make any question to rewatch a race everyone was mourning a driver while waiting for a pandemic to end.

RIP Sir Stirling Moss. If you haven't done so I suggest reading the Robert Edwards biography and also The Limit by Michael Cannell.

I thought he was the last one to drive the last of the Silver Arrows, the Mercedes W196, but Hans Herrmann also drove

sad news specially because fans cannot gather to remember his contribution to motorsports, RIP

From the Indy drivers Ralph Liguori and Paul Goldsmith are still living as well as Buddy Cagle who entered once but crashed in rookie test so didn't participate further.

from the Indy champions past 1960 I like to see their stats on F1 races and then some of them failed to start because they were "racing in another race" or simply "not present"

AJ Foyt, Bobby Unser and Mario Andretti all have that on their F1 CV

Never understood this Indy 500 is part of F1 thing. Hardly any F1 driver took part. And the guys who entered the race, officialy drove F1 but again not, and the winners are listed in the statistics but then again not.

The lockdown in France has been extended until the 11th May. At the same time, the ban on mass gatherings has been extended until the middle of July, which would rule out the original French GP date.

Ironically with Jim Clark and Graham Hill, etc, they would've been better off including it in the SIXTIES for a better competitive run at it...
