I don't like the track (too mickey mouse, too much tarmac) but somehow it ends up to be 10/10 race again and again.

It used to be the worst track on the calender. Can't get my head around how it's become good O.o

This.

It's all relative. Tracks, cars and drivers have become shite, so only the real 'natural' tracks that have some character in them will produce some real racing. I'm surprised the Hungaroring has lasted this long. Actually, I'm amazed now I think of it.

Ross brawn ate a banana here in 2004.

I remember 4 great races at Hungaroring 1989, 1997, 2006 and 2014. Yes there were some other outstanding individual performances, like Schumi in 1998, Alonso in 2003 and Vettel in 2015 but they weren't memorable races. I know it's about individual perspective, but I don't get why some of you think this place produces many great races. As it hasn't.

2013 and 2015, really? I'm not saying you're wrong but I don't remember what was memorable about them outside of a team and driver winning that wasn't the dominant force of the season. That's all well and good but doesn't make for a great race.

Some good passes around the outside of turn 2 into 3 is what I mainly remember.

Last year's race was just crazy, Lewis fighting through the field, the mid race sc really shook things up, turn 1 dramas etc. Then Rosberg puncturing himself was just the icing on the cake.

Not sure what else a race here can deliver tbh

A few passes and moments of idiocy doesn't mean they were good races for everyone though, right?. Hence why 2013 and 2015 were entirely forgettable. They were certainly not the worst races but they weren't classics or tast for me by any stretch.

DRS definitely benefitted the races on this track IMO.

It was probably more likely a 7. The pre-SC was ok but not great. That part was a 4-5. The post-SC section was messy but not amazing. That was probably a 7-8.

But fuck it, I'll give it an 8. The top 5 was refreshing and not one Mercedes car or Mercedes power-unit up there.

This pretty much falls into line with what I was saying above. Now all you need to do is tell me I voted 2013 either a 9 or 10.

EDIT - nope, I gave 2013 an 8 as well

I'll get my coat and sneak out the back quietly.

The Hungaroring holds for me the best overtake I've ever seen in F1. Nelson Piquet on Ayrton Senna in 1986.

At Fastlane recently we were discussing which wet races started under the SC, there are nine in total:

Spa 1997
Spa 2000
Brazil 2003
Fuji 2007
Korea 2010
Canada 2011
Japan 2014
Monaco 2016
Silverstone 2016

What races in the recent past have been wet but started normally? I can remember Monaco and Silverstone 2008, but what others?
