and what is a 'd-rate' issue?

Something to do with the deployment of the energy recovery I think.

I still like the track. The problem is the DRS zones. There needs to be a second detection point, so that the car that has been overtaken can attempt to fight back in the second zone.

Although the second GP2 race was a bit of a farce, there was a lot of good racing in the Saturday race, so the track layout is not really a problem. Give it a few more seasons and I'm sure we'll see some better races here. That being said, was it really that terrible? Sure, Rosberg ran away with it, but all the positions behind him changed regularly throughout the race. I'll take that over a race from 2002 or 2004 any day.

Tbh I was blown away by the track, I wasn't expecting much and what we got was a balls out fast track, I was really impressed, it's first time in a long time that F1 has made me go WOW!

It is, what kind of ruined the racing was the fuel saving. 15 laps in cars were lift and coasting around the place, despite being in a position to attack other drivers. So I'm not surprised that nobody crashed or took risks.

if they didn't demand an obligatory stop for tires maybe some teams could try running mediums for the whole race and win some places, Ferrari could try as they are the top team that saves more tires

Yeah, the stupid fuel limit rule needs to go. Every driver was doing mistakes in every other session. The reason? They didn't have to save fuel to make the distance. The weekends are twisted upside down when practice sessions and qualifying are the most interesting thing to see during the weekend while the race is just fuel and tire management.

Give em 120 kg instead of 100 and we'll get better races.

Just give them a fuel limit appropriate for the circuit. Anyone notice they don't show the fuel used anymore on the tv graphics, they guess we won't notice anymore that they are still saving fuel. And no more underfueling of the car, everybody starts with the same amount of fuel

good point cookie. 100 kg at Monaco is not the same as 100 kg at Baku or Monza. Last year they didn't have full 100kg at the start of Monaco because they knew they don't need that much.

Minimum and maximum fuel flow limits are also stupid on some tracks. When the straight is just about as long enough to overtake, but you hit the max fuel flow, you stay behind...and lift and coast, because you don't want to use too much fuel or you'll ran out. So better get that yellow mode 5B multi 21 on and wait for the only pitstops of the race for the undercut.

What a great waste of time for two hours for people at home! For me F1 used to be about cutting edge racing flat out and good strategy changes on a fly. You know, Häkkinen vs. Schumacher. It was never a called race after five first laps. At Baku, after GP2 havoc, it was easy to say that this is going to be "that race" again. Once Red Bull went for early stops, it was easy to tell that they can't make a one stopper. Ferrari repeated Montreal mistake and reacted on Red Bull instead of Mercedes. Only Vettel's own judgement saved one car from a bad choice. Räikkönen lost his podium because of this call and of course the FIAesque penalty for touching a painted white line on a tarmac infinity.

Mean while at Le Mans Toyota, Porsche and Audi are going flat out for 23 hours and 55 minutes to win an endurance race.

Does anyone else see a problem here? Endurance guys go flat out for a nearly full day and get's every person following on the edge of the seat, yet still market their products as "eco" while F1 guys go 1,5 hours lifting and coasting in total boredomeness even for a hardcore fans.

F1 went full retard. And they can't admit it. Next year might be even worse with halo and wider tyres because they increase drag but the manufacturers doesn't get much more fuel while the cars gets heavier.

You know how I'd adjust the rules? Just change the fuel flow limits and max fuel. Maybe limit the front wing design by banning the small winglets and that's it. That would be cost effective change and it would have immediate positive change for the races. If we watch qualifying and practice sessions it's easy to see that just with some more fuel and more possibility to change the flow we could see interesting racing.

Team underfuel because they're expecting safety cars.

It's no coincidence races are better after the SC comes out, it's not just the fact the field is compressed back together (although that is a fun side effect ;) ), it's also the fact the fuel saving b.s is less of an issue and they can race flat out.

Solution: More safety cars!

careful with that solution, or they will make a mandatory safety car period in the middle of the race turning something random into something farcical
