Canada usually delivers great races and I don't see why this year should be an exception. Can Mercedes be beaten? Will Red Bull beat Ferrari again? Ultra Softs and Monaco was a difficult combination, so perhaps they will again cause some additional drama. The wall of champions is always hungry; perhaps taking Verstappen this year?
Also, a slight risk of rain for Sunday. All the elements of exciting weekend are there.

How long will the ultra softs last? I know that Monaco was a different set of circumstances than normal with track conditions etc but still, the softest tyre in your allocation lasting 40 odd laps is an absolute joke.

Best event of the year. Not many cities embrace their race as much as Montreal.

The way it should be, yet Bernie constantly threatens the race. I lived in and around Shanghai for 5 years and you wouldn't even know that there is a race there. Zero promotion and no one gives a shit.

Blame the teams and drivers bitching the last seasons about the tyres. Next season will be even worse.

if the ultrasofts keep it hard like it was at Monaco the race could be only two stops

at least tires in Canada suffer a bit more

This is the tyre selection chart as it hasn't been pictured yet.

Now let me remind you that Montreal race in 1997 where tyre choice was way too soft and people had to make unexpected stops with visibly destroyed rear tyres

I want to believe

I remember that, and it was also very random between sets. Coulthard's first set could be run for 40 laps and his second set was destroyed in 12 laps which cause him to make the fateful pit stop.

Ditto for Schumacher who was on two-stop strategy but had to make third stop after eight laps or so.

I see you Canada 1997 and raise you a Barcelona 1997 the race before. Commentary from Martin Brudndell "Coulthard's done three stops in 40 laps, I don't see him doing 25 till the end of the race" Come on Pirelli, tell the teams to suck it and produce your original set of tires again!

Because of that, when Panis crashed, most people thought it was a rear tyre failure at first.

Damn, what a shitty way to end what was pretty interesting race. He'd have been better off sliding along a bare concrete wall at that angle, even in a '97 car.

Yet it took them 10 years and another serious crash (the near-fatal Star Mazda pile-up in the mid 2ks) before finally putting a nice smooth barrier to slide along instead of a dead-stop tyrewall.

.

That was back in '06, horrible accident. Although rumours of a driver (Brad Jaeger, who was hit in the head by a flying car) being revived were never confirmed tbh.

Was it also 10 years ago when the track started to come apart at the hairpin leading to a few people running wide and a bit of a random element to the race? :?
