Any opinions from NASCAR officials about that yesterday race?
I'm wondering, because if they will told something bad about Big Ones and flips, it will be funny, especially because in all commercials and promos they're placing Big Ones and flips for promotion, even during race they're always saying "THERE"S GONNA BE A BIG ONE AND FLIP"

Noticed in the replay that Danica's air hose got disconnected at the rear in her accident. Can't remember seeing that before.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Those seats at Talladega have seen their fair share of "Holy Shit" moments. Jesus. :8:

NASCAR only really has four options.

- Keep the package as it is but continue the good safety work on the cars, barriers, and catchfences.

- Slow the cars down. Maybe there will be less airborne moments, but it will be even more pack racing and it will look painfully slow.

- Take the plates off. It might break the packs up a bit, and it would be insane to watch, but what would happen to a car and driver in a 230mph crash? Too risky.

- Modify the circuit/use part of the infield (if there is one?)/don't race at Talladega ever again.

I can only see the first option as the sensible one, but this is NASCAR...

And I'm going to be controversial and say that putting grass back along the backstraight would see a reduction in these huge head ons into the inside wall.

Tearing down the banking, or removing Daytona/Talladega from the schedule would be the equivalent to IndyCar leaving Indianapolis or re-configuring the speedway into a 1 mile oval.

Yeah, Ive been thinking the same thing. Also it would be better if the cars could actually spin.

Remove the restrictor plates, tear down the fences, and fill the grandstands with criminal scum. If you survive 500 miles at Talladega, you're acquitted!

I think the racing quality is fine currently until it turns into a wreckfest with boneheaded moves & insane blocking. We all seen that this package can produce clean racing, with last year's fall race being a 180 lap green flag run until the restart/playoff shenanigans happened. Of course the drivers were probably more cautious after Dillon's shunt into the fence just months before though.

If anything they need to make the cars harder to drive to break up the logjam style packs, while also attempting to create more passing opportunities at the same time. Getting rid of GWC's on the plate tracks would help on the safety side as well (yeah caution ended races suck, but that usually happens anyway with most of the GWC's lately)

^ I agree. Either get rid of the GWC or allow unlimited tries or once the white is the air you're racing back to the line.

The quality of plate racing, such that it is, is about as good as you can get it without the 2000/2001 package (roof wicker, spoiler wicker, etc.)

Now, what if they combined the 2000/2001 package and gave them a bigger plate? Try to shoot to keep the speeds around 220 or so? Would certainly make handling at Daytona a premium and would probably reintroduce handling into the equation at Talladega. Combined with more throttle response and a bigger hole in the air they may be able to sling shot each other without the need for drafting help.

I also like the idea of putting the grass back on the backstretch but I like it more for ascetics. I don't know how much it would slow the cars before the barrier.

Needs a mile long gravel trap down the back straightaway IMO.

Put a 500 foot jump in the middle of the backstretch and set the AI strength to 110%
