'93 was a wild year for wrecks at Talladega. Rusty's cart wheeling ride in the Spring, Horton over the wall and Bonnet into the catch fence in the Summer race.

First DEGA memory (and first NASCAR memory) : 1993 DieHard 500. 3 years old at the time.

Goddamn, remember when we had DEGA threads that were like 80+ pages and like 15 of them were before the first car on track?

I'm reading through the Spring DEGA '09 thread right now. Like, that was the fucking peak of DEGA Fever right there.

That thread ended with 122 pages. I doubt we hit 50 this weekend. NASCAR isn't what it used to be.

My earliest Dega memory was Dick Trickle drilling another driver in the side, during a Busch series race in the 90s. But I couldn't find anything on youtube so maybe I imagined it...

You could be right. For some reason I only remember two cars being involved, and I thought Trickle was in an orange car, carrying a roof cam. But the contact looks the same so it must just be my memory. :p

I remember seeing this one live. Schrader must have been holding his breath waiting to get collected.

Those '98 and '99 Busch races were wreck fests. Buncha small ones in '98 and a HUGE one in '99. Those races are engraved in my memory forever.

Weather Update: Rain is getting more isolated, no more than 35-40% chance during race times both days.

Is the ARCA race live on FS1 or do I have to stay off the internet for an hour or so?

The 2001 EA Sports 500. I had to stop watching it with about 10 laps to go...

Seems it'll be live.

Don't see why it wouldn't be. It's Dega.

If it's live, as always, there is going to be a very small window to get the entire race in. FS1 coverage doesn't begin till 6 pm eastern.

Why does ARCA at Talladega always start so late?

My theory is that if it ends up starting to be a long, drawn out deathfest then it'll get mercifully curtailed by darkness before things get even worse.
