Since it's repave in 2007, hasn't Vegas gained a lot of bumps? Or did they get rid of them? That could make it fun.

I thought part of Vegas was repaved over the winter? Or did I just imagine that?

I forget it's been almost 10 years since Vegas was repaved then. I always think it's only been a couple years.

Holy shit. Seriously? I don't think I have actually watched a race at Vegas since they reconfigured it. Not once. That's kind of amazing in a way that I could accidentally avoid this one track for that long.

I don't think the southwest gets as big of temperature swings that damages the surface of the track.

I think the new aero package will work well at Las Vegas. I think this should be a good race this weekend.

It all depends on what Goodyear brings this week. If they bring something that actually wears, should be fun. If not, it'll be the Aero Push 400.

Didn't they repave before the 2011 Indy race?

Not to my knowledge.

The repave was done after the 2006 Cup race and was ready for the 2006 September Truck Series race

The 2006 reconfiguration (not just repave) was a botched job and it was bumpy and irregular from the start but they left it like that, which is good.

I remember how bumpy it was even with the newer pavement. Hopefully this plus the new package makes for better Vegas racing. I'm cautiously optimistic.

The headline makes the package sound really positive, but Edwards' comments are really concerning. Similar speeds to last year. Fast in the corners. Hardly any time off the throttle... That does not sound good.

But it could be due to a softer tyre. So may be better on the long run, and what's most important is if the cars are on a trail or all around the track, and how close they can get to each other compared to last year, and if you get near the car in front, if you can get there that is, you can get him aero-loose.

I also think that the teams are looking at every inch inside regulations in car shape to get the most downforce back, so this will be a tug of war from now on. I just wonder (if this is really the case) if Nascar will do some rule change mid year of wait until 2017, if they always just keep the year by year changes, it could be up to 2020 until we finally get what we wanted. But I'm sure if by 2017 they don't get it right they will change mid season. Or by 2018 for sure.

That is, if they are looking for the right direction. At least they got Trump.
