15 tour mods? Sad state of affairs right there.

K&N East looks to be stout this year.

Only 22 supers entered so far at NSS is sad though. I think there was over 40 last year and even more in '13-'14.

I thought the UMP was a more mid-west thing. Down South is Late Model country. Up in the NE is Big Block country. Bunch of tracks up here at one point or another have tried experimenting with the UMP style modified but they're slow and look weird when compared to a Northeast Big Block so they never caught on. They get like 800 cars at Boone for the Super Nationals so they must be popular somewhere.

I just love the Gen 6 RP racing, and that was the best one so far. Finally a 500 that started and ended on a sunny day since a long time. And was competitive all along, but nothing beats that 3 wide running near the end. The NNS race was the first ever that my father started watching and stood to the end, rather than just 2 minutes. And had a nice green run, flip, big one, big crash and crazy but green finish with an underdog beating a NSCS champion. Yeah, I like that. If you don't, too bad for you. Hopefully you like it more this year....

No, he's actually overdue for destroying the front end of his car.

Isn't it usually someone else destroying the front of his car? Like Gordon or Edwards?

i think the quoted post was about bad pavement car counts at NSS, 15 isn't as bad considering last year only had 6 or 7 at New Smyrna. Still sad though.

but anyways, BIG BLOCKS EVERYDAY > IMCA/UMP Mods

IMCA & UMP mods have caught on more down here though, it's still LM country but a few tracks and tours have grown the class here. Plus having some NASCAR driver involvement helps the publicity end too

Gilliland will be driving a third Front Row entry for Daytona. If they can qualify with the smaller field size...

I am looking forward to resuming my duties as the official tbk reporter for the state of the front end of newman's car

"The Buckeye Bullet" Dave Blaney won tonight's Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car feature at Volusia
Jonathan Davenport won tonight's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature at East Bay

DIRTcar UMP Modified highlights from 2/10

Looks like every night of the World Series @ New Smyrna stream will be live on FansChoice (unlike last year where they tape delayed because NASCAR was on TV)

Apparently there will be another new format for Daytona 500 Qualifying on Sunday; TBA this afternoon.

Also, NASCAR has mandated a MIN speed of 175 mph at all times during practice. Sounds like another group-ish format coming?

But... group qualifying was such a frickin' disaster, and what they used on plate tracks the rest of the year ended up being just fine?? 8O

They're going to put ramps in selected areas of the straights and that's what the 175mph minimum is for. Geez, get it right.

I'm always the last to jump on the "Hate NASCAR for every damn thing for the fun of it" train, but GAHD. They're not making it easy on me. :(

I read the regulations for determining the starting lineup in the NASCAR RDT but I still haven't seen anything new about the Sunday session itself. Is that remaining unchanged?
