talking about driver's wives, Cora Schumacher featured some months ago in the cover of the german Playboy

looks like that getting married with her was the only thing that Ralf did in his career

I have a bit of trouble with all the Ralf bashing.

He may not have been the fastest, nor did he develop his full potentional, but for a period he w.as matching and better than Montoya + was our light in the dark during the years of Michael Schumacher domination.

(Mind you, I did have a peak online following your post.... :whistling: )

Ralf could be talented (not as Michael) but it was a jackass and it was one of the reasons that made Montoya switch to McLaren and annouce it a year before

I honestly believe 90% of the reason Ralf made it into F1 is because he's the brother of.

Yeah, in 2001. When it was Juan's first season in F1. Other than that Juan consistently outperformed Ralf.

Montoya signed for McLaren in 2003 shortly after the French GP when he felt Williams gave Ralf preferential treatment.

at the time I thought he was the only possible contender to defeat Schumacher, it would be awesome if that happened

I'd imagine there is some element of truth, but he also had the junior category results to justify being in F1 as well

And he actually got wins and results, which so many drivers people speak more fondly of (e.g. Heidfeld) weren't able to do.

Ralf Schumacher was always pretty ordinary, one of the least aggressive drivers I can remember.

Well there are enough drivers that can present the same results but lack the financial backing, name or luck so they never made it to F1. I'm sure Ralf would have been in the same boat as those guys if it wasn't for his brother

You tell that to Eddie Jordan and ask him what Ralf's aggression meant to the team at Argentina in 1997.

Ralf 1997-2000 was very good, was highly rated and there was reason to believe he could be a possible world championship contender. Once Montoya came into F1 and established himself in the Williams team Ralf's attitude appeared to change, going from being happy and popular driver to whiny and somewhat of a laughing stock.

It is arguable to suggest Ralf was unlucky in F1. He was the first signing for Jordan in 1997 and Fisichella was a last minute signing who then stole most of the headlines for the team that year. In 1998 Ralf was again the underdog as he was teamed with an ex-World Champion and all honesty probably should have taken Jordan's first win had it not been for Damon's team orders demand late in the Spa race. In 1999 the move to Williams was met with headlines again being about his teammate, as with 2000 and 2001. In each of those years (bar 1997) he outperformed his team mates. In each of those years the attention from the outside world was on his team mates. And then when he was established and a proven winner, Montoya came along and blitzed him.

Now we just use Ralf as a punchline.

Ralf has achieved something remarkable, he constructed hiw own persona, good or bad. Nobody nowadays refers to him as the "brother of" anymore. He was a good match to Michael in many races when the conditions were right.

He does have a nice gag reel, but at least he will be remembered for a long time. Isn't that all that matters at the end of an F1 career? (well, that, and being alive and healthy)

Now I'm sober I remember that. Cheers.

I'm sure there was a few times in 2005 that micheal had wished he was signed for Toyota
