What kills me even more about the the Edwards/Keselowski incident is Earl blatantly wrecked Kez at Gateway and still no fuckin suspension. But hey, Ricky Rudd got black flag for tapping Davey out of the way for the win at Sonoma....

Brad was waay too full of himself by 2009 and spinning people out whenever he felt like it so although Carl's methods were crude, they worked. Brad got brought down to earth and went on to become a better driver and champion.

I put that down to unintended consequences rather than a crude plan by Earl.

I'm still not sure how Kryle has a racing license after turning that truck head-on into the outside wall at near racing speeds. It was virtually attempted murder in my book.

And Earl vs Kez.

What NASCAR needed to do and they failed to was make a concrete penalty system. Say from this day on and driver will receive a minimum penalty of so and so and move on. Making an unprecedented decision such as this one was incredibly near sighted and shows how badly mismanaged the sport is right now. You can't tell me not once since the Kansas race NASCAR told Kenseth and the rest of JGR the ramifications of him acting out the scenario we saw at Martinsville.

Yeah but then you open up other things like ok, Matt was 9 laps down and did that.. but what if he was only 1 lap down, do you penalize him differently because he was only 1 lap down and took out the leader? What if he was on the lead lap? Or 3 laps down? What if he were in the Chase? Chase and on the lead lap... Chase and 5 laps down?

We know that NASCAR was harsh because a 9 lap down car wrecked the leader and it would probably be different if he were on the lead lap or 1 down... so how can NASCAR go up to Matt and JGR leading up to the race and say "Well guys, if you retaliate against the 22 this weekend, here's the lap down breakdown for the penalty. Also this one is the scale for the aggression factor."

NASCAR can tell them that there will be a stiff penalty but until the action occurs, there's no way of telling how severe the penalty will be.

Also, Matt is not dumb. He had to have known there would be a major penatly coming if he intentionally wrecked Joey while he was leading.

NASCAR was harsh because they got caught with their pants down. This was the third race with shenanigans at the end and now NASCAR finally decides this this isn't ok? They'll never admit they mishandled Talladega. Kansas will always be a toss up. Consistency has always been NASCAR's Achilles and its making this harder and harder to swallow. They have no control over their sport and it is quite obvious.

Well, they have control over their own sport in that the teams want to participate. It's not like in Indycar or IMSA, where if you piss off the teams, they threaten to leave. NASCAR can pretty much do what they want, and no one would leave...

The only people who they have to worry about leaving are the fans.. which I don't think will be a huge issue (until Jr retires).

Nascar has always promoted itself to be a rubbins racing bullring door banging sport. They opened this evolution of the sport up on themselves and it would appear to me they have no idea what to do about it. If they were really concerned about this sort of behavior, there wouldn't be double file restarts.

NASCAR doesn't give a fuck about the fans, all they are interested in is the TV figures/money, like our Prime Minister, the only time they are interested in what 'fans' have to say, is when the Court of Public opinion puts someone on trial, then NASCAR goes with the popular consensus.

If NASCAR cared about their true fans, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I don't care about what happened in 2009 or 1991, not really relevant. But Harvick getting away with trashing a bunch of cars is and that's worrying.

I also don't think spinning other cars out on superspeedways, even when battling for the lead, should go without some kind of warning either.

Sounds like Erik Motherfucka Jones will be in the 20 for the next 2 weeks.
