Looking at the leaderboard, it is amazing to see the top 8, only 3 retirements out of 64 (and 2 DNS)

Yay! The nostalgic clips are great way to contrast the utter lack of excitement we're going to witness on Sunday. Nope, it cannot be reverse jinxed.
GP2 and GP3 should be awesome tho.

Would be nice to have a 1987 Piquet/Mansell kind of fight, between Hamilton and Rosberg this Sunday!

Rose tinted glasses are amazing aren't they? But I find they tend to blind people. Me included. Perspective, on the other hand, is everything.

The 1989 is one British GP that I can sit down and watch with ease at any time. I love it. It's always been an awesome race to me. But. That race contained less excitement than any 2014 race (so far) and was less exciting than the 2013 race. Same for the 1991 and 1992 races.

there were 14 retirements out of 26, Senna retired, the two Minardis got 5th and 6th place which were the last points position back then and was a massive achievement. And Patrese had a massive crash.

that is enough drama to keep me enough entertained during the race.

There's no need to justify the race, I've already said it was an awesome race. The point being is that we keep bitching about how poor the current races are whereas in actual fact we get racing and overtaking through the field. During the 1989 race, the excitement (other than outside influences and non-relevant drama such as gearbox failures a couple of spins and a crash) was the chase between Mansell and Prost plus the Piquet and Nannini duel. Both of which weren't really that exciting when comparing to today.

I know it's a tad early to say it, but I think umbrella's might be needed Sunday.

say what you want, I am really not excited about the last couple of Grand Prix. I feel like I'm repeating myself but I can't be bothered about a battle for 7th place when you have 2 invisible Mercedeses at the front, 2 even less invisible Williamses some 20-40 seconds behind, and one or two Ferraris inbetween. And if someone spins on a very rare occasion it's not because he made a mistake by pushing too hard, but because something mechanical isn't working. Where's the surprise retirement, where's the adrenaline when cars are shattering in pieces, and on absolute number one, where's the unpredictability that makes me want to keep watching because you never know something might still happen and you don't want to miss it?

Yes we've had some good years and some really bad years, DRS has caused good racing and has destroyed other races, but fact is that I am one of the many who just isn't interested anymore to turn on my TV for 1.5h on a sunny afternoon.

"Jesus..." does what? I've never seen such a banner before, what does it say? Does somebody know/Remember? :)

"Jesus Saves" it was some kind of organization for christian sportsmen. Alex Dias Ribeiro used to paint on his cars

Jesus saves, but Satan rebounds and scores.

It's been a few years now, but I still can't believe the pits has moved.

Reminds me of Ian St. John who played for Liverpool FC in the 1970s.

The ball goes up into the ball, St John shoots... Ohhhh, Jesus saves!

Pits haven't moved. The original pits and paddock are still there and in active use today.
