Dull at the front as expected. Vettel and Massa made it at least a bit watchable.

Nico, "Pushing like mad" and "Lift and coast" don't go together.

F1 is in a shit state, the rules are shit, the engines are shit and that retarded penalty system is shit.

A fuel economy race, just like the old WSC days but still they still put up a good race compared to this. (Different eras and cars I know...)

A thought I had during the race;

Does anyone else think it still tickles Lewis when he comes up to lap the McLarens 20 laps in?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I guess the trend will be boring races until 2017 unless it happens light rain so we need a good reserve of patience

The race was that thrilling, the bbc are spending their time debating weather it was a Beaver, Gopher or Groundhog which crossed the track and asking people to tweet in.

Yes thats what I want from my F1 races, an episode of fucking Springwatch.

Best quote from the BBC show so far earlier from Eddie Jordan - "Martin Whitmarsh did a very competant job at Mclaren"

when F1 wanted to become 'greener', I never thought it would have been 'save fuel, save engines, save this, save that, don't go to fast, save brakes' etc etc

and I think they should the 'wall of champions' a few meters, as now they drove far away from it.

Its farcical what is going on at McLaren and Honda. And there is no light at the end of the tunnel with that Honda. They are severely hamstrung with these stupid engine token rules. Basically if you don't design a good engine first up you are screwed. Its ridiculous that Honda don't have the same ability as the others to develop their engine with the 32 tokens. Cause as we have seen with Ferrari & Renault, dyno testing isn't the same thing running on the track. Honda is doomed until there are new rules.

yesterday I went to watch a local bicycle race. Behind dernys, motorcycles. The weather was good, start and finish were less than 500 m from my house, greasy hamburgers available and there were some interesting names. Ilio Keisse was one of them, he recently won the last sprint in the Giro last week. The race was 70 laps of 1 km around a field and a supermarket.

They were there to have some fun and the minimal startmoney, so we knew that they were not going to take a lot of risks in a non important local race. For the first 60 laps, they were racing in a way that I thought, if I take my bike, I could join them and not struggle that much. The last 10 laps some of the guys went for it, the others waved to the crowd.

I do not expect the same attitude from what is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport.

Fuel/tyre/engine/brake saving is not the issue. Racing has never been about going all out 120%, for each and every lap. That's what qualifying is for. During the race, you spare your shit so it doesn't come apart and leave you out in the dry by the end. It's been like this since the dawn of racing.

BUT.

The issue is that is not the goddamn driver doing this job. He should be the only one managing his brakes, his tyres, and his engine. Deciding to risk going for it, getting upfront, and perhaps risk a failure/crash/blowout.

Even us everyday drivers do this better than them nowadays. We listen to our engine and brakes and tyres, to know when to change shit. But these assholes have an engineer that tells them the exact temperature of their brakes and EXACTLY HOW LONG THEY SHOULD COAST TO KEEP THEM COOL.

Fucking seriously. Was it Rosberg or Hamilton? Some driver asked his engineer how much he should lift and coast, and was told about 50 meters.

A part of my F1 fan's heart DIED when I heard that live yesterday.

Let the goddamn man in charge. If he crashes the car/engine, then tough shit. If you don't want human errors to get in the way of your company profits, then go find another industry and leave racing to people with guts.
