2015 FORMULA 1 CHINESE GRAND PRIX
Image

Grand Prix History

wikipedia wrote:
The vision of a Chinese grand prix started in the early 1990's. The Chinese government had originally planned for an F1 circuit to be located in the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province, southern China. A racing circuit was designed and built and was provisionally added to the 1999 F1 World Championship calendar, but the track failed to meet standards set by the FIA. However, the Chinese government, with assistance from the organisers of the Macau Grand Prix, set about organising a successful race track. In 2002, it was announced that the Shanghai circuit had signed a 7 year contract to host the Chinese Grand Prix starting in 2004, and ending in the 2011 season. The Chinese Grand Prix debuted on the Formula One calendar on September 26, 2004, and was won by Rubens Barrichello. The following year it hosted the final race of the Formula One championship, where world champion Fernando Alonso emerged victorious, and with it claimed the constructor's title for Renault F1. In 2006, the Grand Prix became the final race in which Michael Schumacher was victorious.

Should be a Mercedes walkover with the forecasted temperatures (colder than Melbourne).

Potential rain on Sunday.

I haven't said it yet so I am still allowed: the new F1 site is a disaster. I find no information at all, except by clicking everywhere and a big dose of luck.

I have contradictory feelings about the track. It's dull, hazy and forgiving (apart from the pit entrance ;)), but on the other hand has provided fantastic races. Ok, last year was one the worst races of the season. Let's hope rain will spice things up.
And dear F1 god: show some mercy for Kimi.

Even the redesigned F1-live website is rubbish. I can't get rid of that bloody top scrolling bar that takes up almost a third of the screen. Incidentally they have gone for a very similar feel to the Formula 1 site. Needless to say it has the same disjointed fell.

unless I am mistaking, there is only half an hour build up to the Chinese GP on the BBC. Then again, it's live on the BBC 8)

I want to despise this track, but its not that bad. Some nice corners and multiple overtaking opportunities.

I think the main problem with this track is, or rather was, the lack of scenery.
However, expanding urbanisation has added a nice city decor to the track :)

I hate the DRS on the front straight, they never get it right (cars getting in front before the braking zone). The one on the start/finsih straight is nicely placed though.

Are you sure it's not actually 5 working days before the 13th of April? I seem to remember reading something along those lines (you're referring to the F1.com website, right?).

Yeah...I live 45 minutes away from the track, drive past it regularly....and it is a shit hole. May look better on TV, but it is dead smack in the middle of a desolate soulless area. Those apartment buildings are 3/4 empty, and you can't really see it on TV but there are expressways ringing the track. The area the track is in, is one of those places where people who can't afford to buy in the city buy, but those apartments are still gonna set you back $400,000 USD. There is nothing redeeming about where the track is situated.

Well, the pit entrancy isn't a challenge anymore http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/3240 ... o-asphalt/

I don't remember where the speed limit starts to count, but, there's a big chance of drivers using the runoff area to gain more time in the pit stops.
