First 500 with no Busch brothers since 2000. No proper big one on that day, and a Ford (Dale Jarrett) was in the winner's circle at day's end.

But that year Fords dominated Speedweeks and General Motors (Chevy/Pontiac) struggled, whereas this year Hendrick (Chevy) and Gibbs (Toyota) were the dominant forces but a Penske Ford won the race.

NASCAR wasnt going to take any chances on a wreck cause of not throwing a caution, they're in deep enough right now.

EDIT:

Awesome racing. The last 20 laps were pure madness.
Who cares about the yellow flag, Logano had it won by a mile.

Also that chick behind him in victory lane was quite cute.

10/10 race!

Why don't they do another GWC when it's the final lap? Why is it ok doing one on the penultimate lap but not ok when it's the final lap?

This is a legitimate thing they could change.

Might be wrong, but isn't that what ARCA does?

I don't see what difference it would have made. Apart from Gordon, all the fast cars were still up front.

If you're going to have green-white checkers then you might as well have the races finish under green.

I think someone here once said a long time ago that the only way NASCAR would consider tweaking the GWC rule is if the Daytona 500 ended under caution.

Remember when NASCAR people mocked Indycar when the Indy 500 finished under yellow? At least Indy had a likeable winner.

Then again they also mocked F1 for Indy '05 and that came back to bite them. Still does.

Are you suggesting NASCAR should pick the winners?

They had a race at Gateway with like 4 attempts at a GWC finish in 2004. Even had flipperz in that one I think for good measure.
