Worst part is you know NASCAR will never say this was a farce.

Only way NASCAR will be fixed is if Brian France snuffs it.

you forgot the bit where he records the race with a cellphone camera.

Yup, the interview was cringe worthy too, the guy is a typical trust fund kid that inherited the golden goose and managed to fuck it over so many times it's on it's last legs.

All he needed to do was sit back and let Mike Helton run the show, but no, gotta interfere.

Mind you, everybody in the room though I was nuts when I started yelling at the TV, first at the drivers for driving like idiots, then at NASCAR for having such a dumb rules package, they was like "cars crashing, that's cool" (they were not racing fans).

Bowyer wiped the smug smiles off their faces

In other news, made it out at New Smyrna tonight and I have to say the new K&N Bodies look fantastic.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Why the Fuck not.

Though I remember Rusty doing that test at Dega in 2003? and saying he entered turn 3 at about 240... Idk about that.

Rusty did it at Talladega.

I believe a while back, when the CoT was being tested, they did it at Daytona and quickly put the plates back on.

This is what I was thinking of

Quote:
Nemechek runs 203mph at Daytona test....alone: #87-Joe Nemechek, a driver/car owner, reached 203 mph without a drafting partner during Tuesday's test session at Daytona International Speedway. The day was supposed to belong to NASCAR as it tested various setups in an effort to break up the two-car tandem draft. But instead, Nemechek was the talk of the garage and what it might mean for qualifying if Tuesday's changes are implemented for the Feb. 26 Daytona 500. "We were changing the restrictor plates and all kinds of stuff," Nemechek said. "I mean, (the speed is) just the product of putting more horsepower to the back tires. I think we're going to be quite a bit faster when we come back here for qualifying day. It's going to be interesting. All the teams are going to have to do some more homework." Nemechek was testing with Triad Engine Development, a North Carolina-based company. "We were using a 1 1/16-inch plate and a 3-inch radius spoiler," Triad Racing Development head engine builder Jon Dysinger said. "This was better than we expected."(Daytona Beach News Journal)(1

As stupid as today was, I don't want to go back to single car runs as they were boring as hell to watch.
There's literally no challenge in running flat out around a plate track letting the engine decide who is gonna be on pole.

I actually tuned in today for qualifying which is not something I've ever done before so there's that.

A few more rules tweaks saying you have to be on track from the drop of the green and if you're backing off then you have to be well out of the way and they should be fine.

Or hell just run some heat races and turn the duels into a kind of proper bump day affair for those that wreck or don't make it, win win.

The first two positions in qualifying used to be a reward for the team that had the best body guys, the best engine shop, the best off season. The qualifying races were for everyone else.

Now we have a qualifying race... For a qualifying race.

Wat

Who the fuck cares if qualifying is boring. It's qualifying. Qualifying is suppose to be about the fastest car. Maybe we should have a best crash contest and whoever has the best crash starts on the pole. The current system on restrictor plate tracks is broken. Why do we need a prerace event for goddamn 5 minutes of "racing." It's not a fucking race, it's a random oh btw this car was the quickest. Oh yea it was the guy 4th in line, good job. Dear fans you have no idea what your looking at but just trust us, that guy was the fastest. Tune in folks though because this wild session might result in tempers flaring, rivalries and destruction that will make Dresden seem like a Cub Scout campfire. This has nothing to do with competition. Competition usually involves one team performing better than another team. This is as previously pointed out blind luck and if anything, this current format has removed all skill from the sport.

The fastest car should be the pole winner. Not the guys who lucked into a gifted position. Not the guys who had nothing to do with assholes wrecking in a different session ruining it for everyone else in that session.

So now DIS sits without on-track action until what, practice on Wednesday?

I like tradition, but the Speedweeks schedule needs to be looked at.

^I meant something legitimate, and not that bullshit Mickey Mouse course.

You'd think they'd promote the shit out of New Smyrna, and run the K&N/Whelen races when NASCAR isn't running at the Speedway, or something.
