I wonder what would have happened if Paul was right about the agreement and Jordan actually did stick to it.
Only having the ferraris on the grid would have changed the course of history I recon.

Interesting it leaves out the fact this entire thing happened because the track was diamond ground before that year's 500, of which Bridgestone had tyre data from its Firestone subsidiary

Was there any possibility for Michelin to have that data beforehand? Sure if the Indianapolis circuit did resurfacing they'd have public detailed reports of what exactly they put in that road for all track users to see upon request, and Michelin should have been better prepared.

And did Bridgestone know it would cause a real safety issue? Because in that case, not sharing it publicly with the rest of the industry is a scumbag move of epic proportions. One thing is to hide stuff for competitive advantage, another is to let people unknowingly dive head first into a potentially lethal situation.

this is one race I don't remember too much as they halted broadcast in the middle to show a football game

one thing I remember well is Barrichello going nuts as usual because Michael blocked him on pit exit

I remember wanting and willing the Michelin teams to not take the grid. To witness such a unique and unprecedented clusterfuck was next to awesome as it was embarrassing. Obviously that was quite a selfish view as many paying people suffered thanks to F1's arrogance.

But the sad thing is, when you look at the way F1 is structured and governed today, you can see that no lessons have been learnt from the incident of 10 years ago.

Once all teams started the warmup lap, I was 100% certain they'd race & I was shocked when all the Michelin runners pulled into the pit to retire. Once the race started, it was quite surreal, but embarrassing to watch...

Unusual place for Hass to show their car - Belgium? I would figure the USA would be better place... Perhaps they have a new sponsorship deal with a Belgian company...?

that's where their European headquarters are.

Well that makes sense!

There are 2 predictions on page 1 that came true, namely ferrari would win and Montoya would be watching the race on tv.

Posts like those of playlife show the attitude why a solution was not met though. Everyone was too busy making accusations based on erroneous information and trying to discern a compettitive advantage for themselves than thinking for re gold of the sport.
as I said before, a similar thing happened to nascar at its brickyard race but they managed to work out a improvising solution because they have a show must go on mentality.

The bitterest thing about it was at the end of that season that 18 points meant for nothing for Ferrari and didn't even change the constructors that much.
All that wrangling and dragging the sport through the muck and for what? :whistling:

The points Schumi received from Indy gifted him an undeserved third place in the drivers championship over Montoya and Fisichella.

EDIT - and looking at the constructors table, those 18 points enabled Ferrari to leap frog Toyota who quite frankly deserved that third place over the Scuderia

Read through it all. One for tbk nostalgia

Were any posts deleted? I remember throwing my remote control across the room and typing out a huge long rant about how everyone in the sport sucked and I was NVR WATCHING AGAIN and it's not there. I'm just calmly telling people to watch nascar (sly move by nasn if they randomly decided to unlock their coverage of the nascar race to pick up people turning off the f1 in disgust )

Maybe i ranted at farzads or something. ...i dunno.

Oh the irony of 6 cars In the race and 2 of them being team order central and the other 4 being so desperate for a result they probably ran on half throttle with the engines turned down.
at least if it happened today you'd know the Mercedes would be allowed to race

And that always bugged me, since I've never been a Schumacher/Ferrari fan and I didn't mind their mediocre performance in '05.

It also helped Ferrari with the record for most consecutive years with a victory (1994-2013).

So test session is rained out, resulting in being red flagged. Some teams want the testing to be extended by one day, but Ferrari and McLaren are against it...

I don't get it, I thought they would want to use all the time they could to develop???

I assume McLaren are against it because of Alonso's accident on Sunday. After all, they'd changed plans for the test once already this week.

They both did one installation lap and therefore "wasted" one test day.

It shows how idiotic the rules can be. No one profits from a test day like this but because McLaren and Ferrari did an installation lap it counts as a day of testing and therefore it will be impossible for them to go on another day.

You can understand why they are against extending the testing, but everybody loses because of this.
