Well, there it is. The single most ridiculous thing I've ever read in my life. Congratulations.

Just out of curiosity, would it be allowed to have such a paint scheme? Off course we all know it referrs to Marlboro, but I'm sure many people wouldn't have a clue.

If they no longer have any association with them then I don't see why not. It might be where it came from but it wouldn't be why they were using it now.

Marlboro doesn't pay them for it. Also the colors also represent Japan and Honda. And I think the current Marlboro packages look different, ie completely red, due to their deal with Ferrari.

Not that the antismoking fags would stop whining because of that.

Sauber uses (new) drivers' money to pay its (old) debts

http://grandepremio.uol.com.br/f1/notic ... e-material

- All of (or at least great part of) Ericsson's, Nasr's and FIA's payments used for previous debts;

- C34 is severely underdeveloped;

- At some point, the C34 production had to be interrupted due to lack of materials;

- Drivers' money combined: EUR 40 millions;

- FIA prize money: EUR 10 millions;

- Ferrari used Sauber's windtunnel in order to sweet the engine debt. The Italian team keeps supplying PUs despite of their late payments;

- Sauber didn't have money to redevelop front aero in 2014, this being indicated by the technical team as one of the three major problems: Ferrari PU, car overweight and front aero (the nose, to be more specific);

- Inside the team the talking is realistic: C34 will be the worst car of the 2015 season;

So sad as it's my favourite team and possibly even out of F1 in a not far away future. The only good thing, to me, is that the pay drivers Ericsson and Nasr will be screwed. Livery is said to change to blue and yellow, btw.

That was dreadful to read. It'll probably sound silly, but maybe they can get another pay driver for Friday practice sessions? Rossi was sniffing around for something & had some money to provide?

Even I, as a non-smoker, is getting fed up with the anti-smoking lobby.

If they'll start to whine because McLaren uses a paintjob that resembles the old Marlboro McLaren days its because its publicity not because of anti-smoking.
Today's youth will not link it to Marlboro. The last time I saw a Marlboro package it didn't have that look anymore anyways.

Thing is, more countries are moving towards plain packaging laws for cigarettes now so this whole looking like cigarette sponsorship is becoming a rather pointless moan.

I thought the general rule of cigarette packaging was that they all now have to carry images of diseases caused by smoking. So with that in mind, perhaps McLaren Honda will announce a tobacco sponsorship deal and then do something similar to Honda's 2007 "Earth Dream" concept...

Yeaa but now they'll have to be bland as well. No fancy colouring and all Sauber grey. Even the names will all be in the same text, no logos at all.

Good, so they are basically trying to murder off the blogs and websites that are being ran by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. I know Bernie wants to focus on old people, but once they stop watching or stop attending races because of the ridiculous prices asked for tickets and constant government cuts on health and housing for the eldery, what will he do?

Yup, funny fact though, Formula1.com and F1.com were originally registered by Graeme Glew (of Team Toraco fame) way before most people had even heard of the internet, and Bernie had to buy the domains off Graeme, for a "hefty" settlement :lol:
