He owns the commercial rights or something.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall in negotiations, I'm not sure how that would go down tbh, does he stand in front of the mirror and talk to himself?

He's senile enough to talk to himself.

This is how the negotiations with himself ended last time around...

I liked when front spoilers had wide tips and simple wings like the MP4/2

funny that took 4 seasons for the high nose cars to win the championship. Adrian Newey made his Williams with a nice nosecone

Technically that's incorrect, as Mansell won in 1992 with a raised nose.

By 1991 almost every team had some form of raised nose, be it like the Tyrrell or the Williams.

There does seem to sometimes be confusion between what counts as a 'raised' or 'high' nose. I just wrote a post out explaining it, and then found from Google that I'd done this before, on GPG in 2012! :slaphead:

Quote:
I'm gravedigging a *lot*, but there was a difference at the time between a 'raised' nose and a 'high' one - I remember the distinction being fairly clear from a season review or something else from the time that I read. 1991 is actually a good example:

'Low' nose: Nosecone drops down in more or less a straight line from the cockpit to the tip. Basically as low as the profile of the driver's legs will allow, hence extremes such as the Brabham BT55.

Image

'High' nose: Bodywork remains high until it reaches the suspension, then drops at a sharper angle. Sculpting near the bottom of the nosecone allows more air to pass the nose and reach the sidepods and undertray. Lots of variations on this one! Newey pioneered it on the March 881, and took the concept with him all the way to the FW16.

Image

'Raised' nose: An evolution of the high nose; the nosecone never actually meets the front wing. Developed by Harvey Postlethwaite on the Tyrrell 019, presumably as a result of looking into Newey's concept.

Image

Sorry for the mild hijack, but single-seater design concepts is my area of boring interest ;)

I'm still a fan of low nose for aesthesic purpose, too bad is unsafe

I also like a lot the pre-1983 ground effect cars without front wings

Except that it's Boullier talking, not Ron. Perhaps Eric has recently graduated from the Ron Dennis School of Being Able to Succinctly Articulate a Sentence While Using Thrice the Words than is Necessarily Needed?

Mexico circuit changes are as expected:
http://www.formula1.com/races/in_detail ... agram.html

Most of the changes don't bother me too much because they kind of retain the general shape/flow of the old layout, But making the section in the stadium so crap is completely unnecisary. Should have just run the simple right/left/right that Champcar ran, That slow hairpin with the kink after it which looks like Turns 1/2 at Bahrain is ridiculous.

I guess it could produce some good racing & side by side battles if someone dived up the inside at the T13 left hairpin but the other car hangs on round the outside to get the inside for T14/15 (As we do see at Bahrain turns 1/2/3 & down to 4 fairly often), But I'd still rather just have a simple mid/high speed left of some sort in the middle of the stadium.

I hate how they butchered the Esses. I'd imagine they'd do the same for Suzuka's 1st sector had the track not been used since the 90's. Now imagine that! For me the biggest issue with F1 is how they destroy all the great tracks just for their own purpose and at the same time they use stupid street circuit designs like Abu Dhabi, Baku and Valencia. And for new tracks it is not allowed to have steep uphill corners like Eau Rouge but have to have lame restricted versions like Abu Dhabi got with their T3. I'm almost 100% certain that had there been less limiting rules for track design, then Abu Dhabi and COTA would actually have a corner imitating perfectly the Eau Rouge. Then we would all praise the master mind Tilke, who design these tracks.

tl;dr F1 sux.

Tilke designed that Bilster Berg test track, so he can make something nice if he wants.

Its the FIA's fault, they are their own worst enemy.
