Haas bought the Marussia factory apparently

It is thought that Haas has also acquired the data and designs for the 2015 Marussia.

Some numbers fluff for the Christmas break;

-Lewis keeps #44
-Felipe Nasr takes #12
-Max Verstappen takes #33
-Carlos Sainz Jr. takes #55

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

John Watson was the last non champion to race #1

so maybe another driver could pick, as the champion didn't took the honor

I believe the rules are only the World Champion can have #1.

Yep, reserved for the world champ should they want to run it as Vettel did. Otherwise they have to choose a number between 2 and 99, so no one can run 0 either :(

How long before a number is up for grabs again if a driver doesn't find a seat in F1? Would say Mags loses it for '16 having not run in '15?

I guess #20 got vacant for whoever wants it, and Magnussen could have it back as long as nobody that race a season before his comeback grabs it

I thought he'd keep it, as he is the reserve driver & can be called up to replace the teams regular drivers at short notice....

Aren't these supposed to be 'numbers for life'? What's the point in selecting a permanent number for F1 when someone gets to take it over the following year because you're only a test driver?

I've said in other forums that the drivers needed reminding that they could choose from 2-99 and not 2-23 as most of them have plumped for numbers between these. They might as well have just kept the old system or whatever number they had in 2013 they keep forever (like Raikkonen chose to).

Shows how boring they are! was looking forward to 69 being chosen :-)

Yes, that's what I thought as well.

Absolutely. And the ones who've chosen numbers outside that range, either chose something still in the 20's (#26 for Kvyat and #27 for Hulkenberg) or master numbers (English speakers, please confirm me that's what they're called): 33. Verstappen; 44.Hamilton; 55. Sainz Jr.; 77. Bottas... Talk about lack of imagination :D

About #1, I think there should be a mandatory rule stating that the raining champion must use it. I know it's a minor detail, but it just doesn't seem right for a champion to use something else.
