Good tast championship.

Bad tast race.

Still, the championship went to the best driver this season with the most wins.
I dont think anyone can say fairer than that.

AND the double points didn't effect anything really.
Which is really the best news of the season. :D

Nico just said in his interview with Will Buxton that he was only "a tiny bit' slower than Lewis in the races this season. Errmmm what?

When measured as part of the gap to the other cars, then yes!

I'm not a Hamilton fan, but I've got to admit that he deserved the title this year. He's had far more bad luck with the car, and yet won more races. I'm sure Nico will have another chance next year, as I still think Mercedes will have the best car.

what?

Rosberg had car failures in 4 GPs while Lewis in 2.

Lewis race pace wasn't a tiny bit faster but wasn't hugely superior either. Big gaps happened in qualifying where Nico could humiliate Lewis, though

But, Lewis deserved far more, that's for sure.

Sorry but what?

Lewis had three retirements, two were mechanical and one was Nico induced. Whereas Nico had three retirements, each mechanical and managed to salvage handsome points in Canada despite the ailments. Then Lewis had mechanical issues in two qualifying sessions which significantly handicapped his races versus his teammate. Nico had zero. Then Lewis also suffered in Monaco qualifying when Nico had his off, accidental or intentional.

Nico wasn't 'a little bit slower' than Lewis in the races. That's a bit of a stretch. Nico's comment suggests he was breathing down Lewis' gearbox at each and every race. That only happened a couple of times. Lewis caught and passed Nico for the win at multiple races this year. Nico never did the same to Lewis.

Nico did qualify better than Lewis. Lewis did make more mistakes in qualifying versus Nico. But 11 poles to 6 ignore what happened in Monaco, Hockenheim and Hungary.

Nico was not 'a tiny bit slower' than Lewis in the races. Far from it.

Prost did had more points under the old system anyway. It was just the fact only the 11 best results counted that made Senna become world champion.

Would the percentages be different if you scored each year using the correct scoring systems from that time?

I doubt it makes a difference but thought to ask.

Actualy the differences would be quite a lot.

1988 (McLaren):
177/378 = 46%

2002 (Ferrari):
221/442 = 50 %

"That was not F1!"

Shut the fuck up.

That year was run under F2 regulations I believe.

Tad bit late but that is a bit of a silly argument - it was called the World Drivers Championship (or something similar) back then, not Formula 1. Formula 1 was just a ruleset. If I remember right it was called the Formula 1 World Drivers Championship from 1981.

Well of the final 3 races of the season, I watched 1 (Brazil).

Says a lot for how much I don't care for F1 these days.
