imagine that in Indianapolis, you have to draft to pass into one but dirty air throws you right into the wall

I don't mind the Chevy aero kit other then the random x-wings everywhere. As long as it's fast though, I don't care :P

speaking of aero kits, hearing rumors that the Honda kit would be revealed the night before the open test at Barber.

IndyCar officials trying to add 4 races by 2017 and have around 20 races on the schedule. Officials also not discouraged in doing international events, we know one of those possible events could be the rumored street course event in Boston on Labor Day.

Portland will never hold a major motorsport event again, at least not in the foreseeable future due to how the city is run. They own the track. Same with Vancouver.

If only four new ones, I'd love to see them return to the Pepsi Center street track in Denver, Road America, Laguna Seca (ditch Sonoma pleeeeeease! :slaphead: :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:     ), and then the oval in Phoenix.

Sonoma is a better track than Laguna Seca. Not be much, but it is if you toss in the carousel.

I can get behind Road America and Phoenix, but Michigan would be great too. Maybe Richmond while we are at it.

The Indycar oval racing has been really bad after 2012, except Indy for some reason, while the road, particularly street racing, has been superb. Wouldn't really care if more classic road venues were added at the expense of ovals at this point.

The recent trend for permanent road courses seems to have been to use Alan Wilson designed courses. So the new ones under consideration will probably be more like (pulls 4 random ones of his out of a hat) Miller Motorsports Park, Autobahn Country Club, Beaverrun, Carolina Motorsports Park? :p

(Alan also touched up Mont Tremblant. So maybe that has a chance. :p)

The main road courses I'd love to see, and that I think are feasible-ish, are Road America and COTA. It's far more likely that the 4 courses will be street events though.

Not gonna happen as long as Gossage has IndyCar hostage.

Who are you ed carpenter?

General consensus is the ovals have got hell of a lot better since they got rid of the foot to the floor flat out high downforce pack racing....
AND a hell of a lot safer too, which is the main thing,

I love them at Fontana. Indy is way to fake and previsible. Milwaukee never liked shit. Texas has highs and lows, mostly highs. Could use some Michigan, Kansas or Kentucky with this low downforce pack.

The previous car was perfect to me at Texas, Iowa and Indy. But a complete joke at other tracks most of the time. Making them all race the same.

This is one of the best CART/IRL/Champ Car races ever on a 1 mile oval

lmao, I DESPISED the old IRL style pack racing but being spread out all over the goddamn track with hardly any close racing isn't much better. The oval racing in 2012 with the DW12 was great, with tons of falloff leading to lots of comers and goers (hence passing) and cars getting so loose they were having to rim ride around Texas for pete's sake but from 2013 onwards, it was just boring as hell (except Indy, it has to be said, again).

There's a fine balance on having the tires give up to make the cars harder to drive and getting the aero balance right. 2012 was pretty good in that regard, but they have gone a little too far in the reduction of grip and making the cars slide around. They need to have the tires fall off a little less so that the cars aren't as twitchy. It's fine to have them not have much grip overall, but it needs to be from more mechanical grip and less aero, not both. Once you lose mechanical grip too, the cars just get evil and it's hard to be in dirty air and not wreck.

I watched the 1999 Milwaukee race recently, the first year they ran the super speedway wings there... the first 30 minutes of that race has among the greatest oval racing I've ever seen! The Franchitti-Montoya-Tracy-Vasser-Andretti battle was absolutely incredible, one of Montoya's greatest moments. It's on Youtube.
