If you have a 6 month to heal type injury because of a crash in some meaningless race, and miss the start of the season and the Indy 500, was it worth it? I think not.

Of course it was another missed opportunity for IndyCar. Ryan Hunter-Reay was offered a good ride but had to decline because Michael Andretti wouldn't let him run. I asked Penske if he'd let Will Power (who grew up on dirt) have a go and he replied: "Tim Cindric called and wondered if we were going to field a midget team." So that was a non-answer but Power would be perfect – along with Scott Dixon, who has been a frequent visitor to the Chili Bowl but never been allowed to race.
The bottom line is that putting a couple of IndyCar stars in front of this audience would be the best promotion IndyCar could get during the off-season, which only lasts seven months. Hell, IndyCar should finance a team because most of these die-hard open-wheel fans in Tulsa couldn't care less about IndyCar and seeing the AMERICAN Indy 500 winner or IndyCar champion or a Josef Newgarden might change their attitude.
At the very least IndyCar should have a display at the Chili Bowl and give out hats, T-shirts and schedules while flying in a couple of drivers to sign autographs and mingle with the fans who never watch their races.

Why are they letting this happen? :slaphead:

Because IndyCar teams see it as tiny rocketship deathtraps.

Well, can't blame Penske after what happened to Gary B but yes I agree it sucks. You'd think atleast guys who own their own frickkin teams, like Carpenter, would run it.

With that logic the season should start in may and the Indy 500 grid should be determined by the previous year final standings and absolutely no testing whatsoever.....

Fine I should clarify it to a non-contractual binding IndyCar race that the sponsor and team is paying for.

Has there been any proper images of the aero kits yet?

If not when can we expect to see them?

Rumor is they could be revealed by the series on Media Day at Indy on 2/17, or separately by the manufacturers in the next month. First official testing for them will be at Barber on March 15 or March 16

Indycars will spend the next 7 years getting bumped for Serie A coverage on BT Sport in the UK.

Conor Daly is testing with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in the next month or so, trying to get the #7 ride for 2015.

Max Chilton is testing for Carlin for their Indy Lights program

Hopefully between BT SPORT 1, 2 and Espn there'll be enough slots to ensure indycar gets shown.
I have more faith with them than if eurosport were to get it again, and I heard they were sniffing around....

Fingers crossed.

Ah that's a shame as I have been enjoying the BT coverage because it had subtitles and ESPN with their upper case subtitles as well!

I always wonder how far behind the action the subtitling is for live events?
I don't know if it's still a human typing out what they're hearing or its more speech to type recognition software these days but either way that'll take time to process so how long between seeing an incident does it take you to make sense of it via the subtitles?

Roughly about 5secs or so. But BT and ESPN subtitles has been pretty accurately in terms of drivers' names, Motorsport jargon and other things you would expect to hear from Motorsport commentary.
