I really hope he makes it to Homestead 2nd in points, then win Homestead, and win the championship.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Agreed, he or Kenseth need to make it to Homestead without a win, then win the Championship without winning the race.

All that was needed was a gigantic beer bash.

Had that been the championship, that's exactly what would have happened.

Exactly.. I kept waiting for him to stick his hands up to get some ice cold Bud's tossed his way..

Junior wins, I'm happy. Chase or no chase.

He needs to look at the replay. Kenseth wasn't being aggressive or trying anything dumb. Just wheel hop.

I'll never get why everyone roots for NASCAR to fail, or to have some shitty outcome that makes the sport look like a joke.

Because that's what it is, a great big fucking joke. A stupid-ass championship format filled with lots of cunts.

Then you don't understand evolution...

The fans of the 60s said what the fuck is this cubic inch displacement limit, why are we banning the Hemi? Fuck NASCAR I hope it fails.

The fans of the 70s said what is this Winston bullshit, where'd all my short track races go? What's this points deal? Who the hell is Bob Latford.. Fuck NASCAR I hope it fails.

The fans of the 80s said what the fuck is this downsized car bullshit, give me back my big muscle cars. Restrictor plates? What a waste of big tracks.. Fords cheat... Fuck NASCAR I hope it fails.

The fans of the 90s said what the fuck is this pit road speed limit bullshit, real racers don't need speed limits. Radial tires? You've fucked the sport.. look how shitty the races are now they don't slip and slide all over the place. Fuck NASCAR I hope it fails.

The fans of the 00s said what the fuck is this Chase shit, Bob Latford was God and we need his points system to run the full season. Car of Tomorrow? Fuck that big ass block of shit and the shit races it produces. Fuck NASCAR I hope it fails.

It's never gonna change, something else will happen to piss off the current crop of new fans (If there are any, I don't even know)

Your general point that there will always be griping about change isn't wrong, but to lump the contemporary complaint in as the same is well off the mark. The Chase, and it's subsequent forms, is fundamentally flawed. This idea that today's anti-Chase fans think Latford made the perfect distribution system is bogus and has nothing to do with the complaints about how a champion is decided. However heavily (within reason) wins and high finishes are weighted in points distribution, the concept of running well and finishing well consistently has always and should always be rewarded most handsomely. This is not related to the Chase's flaws and it's shocking to me that people still haven't figured out the difference.

And don't act like there isn't objective reason to complain about NASCAR's failure to make good decisions on improving the racing from a technical standpoint. I think most of us would be patient if they were trying good ideas that, for whatever reason, weren't working. But they've been actively making bad decisions for several years now and somehow seem confused that it keeps getting worse.

The Chase doesn't have flaws. NASCAR does. As does their PR department. CHASE NATION! In NASCAR winning is everything.. In NASCAR if you wanna make the Chase all you gotta do is win.. You wanna advance through the Chase all you gotta do is win... win wIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN NASCAR = WIN

Except you can win the Chase without winning, just like Newman and Kenseth could possibly show. So I think it's more of people throwing shit back up in NASCAR's faces because they make winning the only thing that seems to matter. People don't like arrogance and they don't like being talked down to, and that's what NASCAR does. NASCAR knows best, now give us your fucking money and watch the show.

I agree with this in the sense that there is nothing wrong with the Chase, because the Chase is working exactly as it was designed.

The flaws and faults lie in Nascar for designing the fucking thing in the first place.

Well yeah, but that means the Chase itself does suck. Of course it "works" exactly the way they want it to (in the sense of making things extremely close). They fixed it in such a way that it can't fail in that regard. The problem is that anyone with a lick of sense and a desire to see the championship go to the team who had the best SEASON has no interest in or love for this system.

Jeff Gordon should be cashing the check in Phoenix, but he still could at Homestead even with the Chase. 144 points left on the table, only these guys would have a shot at the title anyways.. Ironically most still do aside from Junior.

1) #24-Jeff Gordon(C1), 1159
2) #22-Joey Logano(C3), 1117, -42
3) #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr., 1070, -89
4) #2-Brad Keselowski(C7), 1056, -103
5) #4-Kevin Harvick(C8), 1033, -126
6) #20-Matt Kenseth(C4), 1032, -127
7) #31-Ryan Newman(C2), 1031, -128

I won't see anything wrong with the system if Newman or Kenseth wins it. Yes you can possibly stroke your way to the Cup without a win but your life is still infinitely easier if you do win one in each stage, there's no denying that. And that's all there is to it. Winning is not 'everything' to the extent it was hyped perhaps but it's pretty damn more important now than its ever been in the sport's history. You're literally as good as your last race. And yet, you still have a window to let consistency prevail.
