Chase Race #6

Image

It's gonna be a doge day afternoon in the state of Alabama when the top doges (and female doge) of the Sprint Cup Series take on the insanity-fueled, blue balls-inducing asylum of motorsports that is DEGA. Brad Keselowski has a bounty on his head after driving Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, and Matt Kenseth barking mad after Charlotte, the latter of which performed a backstage run-in that would make Stone Cold proud. And after pissing off the three guys you probably shouldn't get on their bad sides, it's questionable whether he'll even make it out alive next week.

Shockingly, that could be the least of Brad's worries. He, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Jr. are still FUBAR when it comes to making it into the Chase on points, and with this being an elimination race, a win may be their only hope to make it into the next round. Matt Kenseth sits just one point out of a Chase spot, and nobody from 3rd on back is locked in.

Which 8 drivers will be the hot doges of the "Eliminator Round"? Which 4 outsiders will be taken out back and shot like Ol' Yeller? Will Keselowski literally get taken out back and shot like Ol' Yeller? Will we get some flipperz? Will the finish be the doge's bollocks? And what sorcery will curse us all when the Dogecar makes it's triumphant return to DEGA? Only one meme-appropriate word can describe this madness:

PLEASE NO FUCKIN' BLUE BALLS. This race has been having last lap cautions and let downs since 2008. Here's a full rundown

2008 - Regan Smith SCREWED
2009 - Huge wreck during one GWC, race over
2010 - Allmendinger Flip coming to white, race over
2011 - Bowyer/Burton run away from epic 3rd-20th place race
2012 - Stewart wrecks the field as Waltrip was getting a possible winning push, Kenseth wins
2013 - Dem damn Dillon boyz wreck in front of the field on the white, race over.

This race is way overdue for a positive finish.

The white flag caution at a plate track is the worst thing in the world.

For me, this is the last race of the season, bettbetter not be blue balls for my last nascar experience of 2014!

I had followed NASCAR somewhat since 1997-ish, but didn't see a plate race until 2003.

Did not see a Talladega race until the 2002 spring race. What a mess.

Started watching in 1994, but first Dega memory would be Craven's visit to the fence. 96?

I started watching NASCAR in 1999 but didn't see a full Talladega race till 2001, Bobby Hamilton winning the Aaron's 499.

Yeah the first dega race I remember was Schraders flip or Morgue punting Earnhardt on the last lap. Don't remember which was first.

I remember a neighbor with cable taping this race for me and running home after school to watch it the next day. The overcast weather gave it a certain gloom which was fulfilled by Earnhardt's crash. And Rick Mast WENT MUDDIN.

I was a huge nascar fan already, but couldnt watch any, then the torrents sites were found, the firt one was a nbs very single car leader at nashville, but I was just happy to finally have access to it. Then the 2005 Aarons 312. Nice

Mark Martin's caution-free win in the 1997 Winston 500. Kind of an abnormal introduction to Talladega...

I saw Rustys flip in 1993, Neils flip in 1993, and remember watching some of the spring 1994 race when it was mostly incident free, then Bodine and Gordon got together and Martin went thru 4 walls. Then the other huge pileup not long after it. I saw the 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998 BGN dega races as they happened, but the first Talladega Cup race that I was able to actually sit and watch live flag to flag was the Spring 1998 race. I had seen the others in parts or tape delayed.
