I think the end of the 2nd DRS zone will be very interesting in the race as I noticed a few cars trying to take the left hander before it flat with DRS open & ending up either running very wide through the left or having the back end start to slide through the exit of the left kink.

I also love the camera FOM have at that part of the track, Really gives a good sense of the speed there taking through that part of the track. Getting some nice shots from the High-Motion camera they have there as well.

I don't know where he has stopped because I'm not watching it, but a red flag for a car stopped on track isn't that unusual in practice.

He stopped 5 meters from a marshals post with a huge opening for recovering vehicles. Took the marshals about 20 seconds to reach the car and move it out of the way. It was on the outside of the track well away from the racing line about a meter away from the wall. Was an over reaction.

I'm not too surprised if they were a bit over-cautious with marshals near the track, then. I don't believe there is provision for the safety car to be used outside of the race itself.

F1 is under the microscope presently, that was a pretty fast section of track and after what happened last week, the last thing they need if for something to go even more tits up involving personnel on track, there was a JCB parked behind the wall too.

Also it's not exactly the first time a practice has been stopped for a car on track, hardly president setting.

Didn't like the track, reminds a lot of Valencia. Just hope it can provide good racing and overtakes, but I'm not very optmistic about it though.

I think the wall coming inwards towards the track after the kink in the SF straigth is very dangerous. Isn't that the spot were that crash happend 2 weeks ago in thefirst races at the track?

Hopefully all go's well there at the start. Usually bad things come in 2.

I would be negatively surprised if F1 cars can't corner it flat out even with DRS being used and on full tanks. I know the cars are dead slow this year(for F1 standards) but that corner reaches only a max of 3Gs(from Vergne onboard). If they corner it at over 220kmh, then it should be very easy for an F1 car to reach 3G. I looked for onboard stuff on youtube but couldn't find any(with telemetry). Do you have any to share, Stef?

The FOM's corner analysis graphic showed pre-corner speed to be around 205kmh(IIRC) but I guess it should be well over that during the corner itself, so an easy flat I presume.

Yeah people keep saying that, but there's no reason. Accidents happen due to physics and human actions. Perhaps, sometimes the stress and anxiety from a previous event causes people to clumsily cause another one, but otherwise there is absolutely no rational reason catastrophes should follow each other, except by probabilistic coincidence, or if the factors that caused the first one have not been corrected.

thanks!

between 260-280kmh, ie, plenty of downforce to generate the required grip for this type of corner. This is a fast lap but I bet a "race simulation" won't show any difference in that particular corner.

Hideous track imho, Yeongam is a LOT better and more challenging(S2 & S3 among the most demanding piece of tarmac F1 recently visited)

Oh yeah Yeongam is a much better circuit, no question. Only the first race was good though. I can actually remember it.

As far as SOchi goes...it is very boring watching the practice. It is a soul-shattering borefest thus far. That doesn't always mean the actual race will be shit but...

Hopefully we get a nice battle between the Mercedes drivers...or anyone else that can keep up. :p

All the races we have seen at Korea were pretty good actually.

I like turn 4 here, its not easy flat out and its long. Probably the best part of the track.

The marshals actually move the car here, not like China where a whole bunch of them just go and stand there
