More likely its someone from the team following them thats stuck in traffic. Or they heard something about police escort to prevent getting stuck in traffic and their lack of any language except French caused a lost in translation.

No idea if this is genuine but it backs up the idea of a police escort.

Regarding earlier posts concerning the location of the E on the rollhoop, and the amount of possible missing material. The picture from the Marussia in Barcelona testing(?) seems to have more black on the rollhoop. Changed the livery since then?

the length between the Sutil accident and the moment Jules went off was well over 2 minutes. Time enough to throw a SC.
Given the situation in which people started pitting for new intermediates and others for full wets, it was probably not found opportune to do this as a great finale was in the making.

I have to admit, although I thought it warranted a SC at the time, I didn't wish to see it either. The weather was getting worse and the laps less.
