You do realise you are contradicting your own argument? I really enjoy the conversations you and I have but you rarely see how easy you are to prove wrong. You leave yourself so open. I'd appreciate continuing this on if you could provide some constructive feedback to my previous comments.

Really? Cos most of the time it seems like you're the only one picking me up on my wonky posting as the rest of the forum just shrugs :p

I don't really tend to do traditional arguments, point by point things on here, I just post how I exactly feel about something, then get told by you and the rest of the forum how wrong I am all the time.
Boo-hoo woe is me ;)

Or I post extreme opinions ironically.
Or I post genuine opinions and hope people think I'm being ironic.

Or I just post the Webber smilee of him running of out the pits and await the thumbs up.

But yeah..errr where were we. Austria was a SHIT race :p

BTW in my day job I am actually a marshal. I realise that this is just at a go-kart track but I also realise this might be skewing my opinions slightly.
Maybe I'm just a coward? :p

Hmmm ok. Maybe that is the case in England from your friends and experiences but it doesn't mean to say it is the same elsewhere. But I get your point.

I first saw this just after Massa's accident, good timing lol

Now that's a little more like it Paul. And you know what they say, you only get picked on by your true friends...

Hmm BBC highlights didn't show marshals running across the track, wonder why not?

that's why the SC wasn't called, a german driver in a german car winning the german gp.... good publicity for F1, they needed to fix that win for monday newspaper covers.

I think an epic fight between team mates till the flag would have been a better story. Rosberg would probably still have won. Or a surprise win by Bottas.

Yeah, Germans don't care if a German guy wins a German grand prix in a German car just week after German won the world cup.

Or maybe FIA just thinks that they DO care about it - and fixed the race anyway.

This is just typical FIA's unsystematical inconsistency of their own rulebook interpretation (i.e. see FRIC). It has always been like this. Maybe it's just to have something to talk between the races, maybe it's just their inability to be consistant or maybe it's just us, the hardcore fans who have the power of hindsight favouring us. But in the end, it's the conspiracy theorists who wins the game, because you can always speculate, twist facts and stuff.

Just to share a couple of photos I took at the race, sat high up in the Mercedes stand and we had a view that I don't think could be bettered anywhere in the world and a pretty decent race as well.

Hamilton may have had a point with his comments, but ultimately the words he kept using showed the real problem here:

Lewis Hamilton wrote:
You come around that corner at serious speed, and then there are marshals standing not far from where you are driving past. For me that is the closest it has been for a long, long time.

The double waved yellows were out for this. That means slow down and be prepared to stop. Anyone coming towards double waved yellows 'at serious speed' is always going to be the cause of any accident, and the F3000 video above is a good example of it. If he worked at a racing school that showed the Tom Pryce video, how can he not see the flaw in his argument?

So I watched the race yesterday without being near the internet. Kind of surprised to see this discussion about the Sutil-situation. Should we just stop employing double-waved yellows then?

As far as I know SC's immediately get called in case of a flip in various series/tracks, but I don't know the F1-specifics.

Here is another prime example of the flaw in the argument...

Yep, that was part of my terrible argument too, you can take all the precautions you want, but you can't account for stupidity and drivers trying maximise every situation for their own personal advantage and to hell with slowing down.

When was the last time someone was disqualified/penalised for not respecting yellow flags??
I can think of Japan 97 and...errrr?

Hamilton agrees with me. We both know the SC didn't came out in order to keep the 'german' home win chances intact.

What if Bottas is leading for some 15s, and Rosberg is 2nd?..... I am pretty sure the SC would come out even for a spit on the grass.

Watch again, half way through the video just before it cuts to the aerial shot you can see that marshal pick up and start waving a second flag. From the aerial shot you can also see double waved yellow flags at a station before the final corner and after the final corner, just before the grid hatchings.

I guess drivers racing are watching the flags and not the track..... in that place the flags are way to the left.... and the turn is to the right, I am sure they are not easily visible. Anyways the 'german' driver won the german gp in a german car and no one was killed, this time fixing the race got away with no damage.
