Come on guys, you can do it. Turns 5, 8, 10, 15... endless possibilities to make those slacking mechanics earn their wage.

Crashes are always cool but I'd really like mechanical problems to be much more common. Before this season started I was hoping we'd see that but... :slaphead:

Yeah, I feel the same, I thought the new rules would bring much more surprises in the last laps with drivers suffering with car failures, but that doesn't happened at all. I remember, back in 1996, Canada was part of a series of races with a very low number of finishing cars, 4 cars finishing at Monaco, 6 at Barcelona and 8 at Montreal (If I remember correctly). I miss that unpredictability.

This is what happens when the mechanics (codewriters) have to concentrate on making a racing machine that works, as opposed to making one that goes as fast as possible.

Which means then only Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes and perhaps McLaren would still exist.

Because the less well-funded teams are anywhere near scoring podiums? Eh...maybe Williams...

Anyway, it wouldn't make much of a difference.

They wouldn't even be here anymore to fill the grid ;), that's what he's saying.

They shouldn't necessarily be able to spend what they want, but the "pinnacle of motorsport" should let them run what they want to run and balance them out within reason. I think a good idea would have been to let teams decide whether or not they wanted to take the TV money and run the new engine formula, or let them run the old V8s and KERS systems but give up their TV money. Or something like that.

Stop talking sense and making good suggestions. Neither has a place in F1.

Elitism in F1 is one of the reasons why F1 is in such a mess. Losing all the "non-podium competing" teams would make a huge difference.

Correct Fabs

Renault-powered teams will be allowed to run at 100% for the first time in Montreal.

At least until the engine breaks after 10 laps again.

Looks like Friday will have thunderstorms -> no action on the track. Sigh.
For the last couple of years rain on the weekend seems to distribute Friday: 70%, Saturday: 30%, Sunday: 0%. Mystic.

Out of interest, does anyone know who was involved in the crash at 0:46 in that video?

Except there were 3 new Renault Engines in Monaco (Vettel, Kvyat and Danny Ric) and 2 of them failed so....good luck with that.

I think it was De Ferran and Salles at Long Beach. 1997 or 98ish.

Engine failures can be unrelated to their power output. I doubt Renault would be giving the thumbs up if they knew the chances of a failure would increase.

Wonder if RBR will stick to their high df direction this weekend...

I soooo hope that Hamilton and Rosberg have a coming together, would make for one interesting and spicy meatball! I can also see both of them doing a Webber and Vettel, toing the team line to a certain extent, but come crunch time, every man for himself.

In the end, I saw no foreign cameramen, weird. But I did get to have a quick chat and a picture with Martin Brundle. And I managed to get a pic with Valtteri. I'll post them when I'm back home !
