Only 32 Trucks, at Charlotte. Absolutely appalling.

Are you trying to say low-budget teams are suddenly deciding against showing up because they are afraid Kyle Busch will beat them?

Not many trucks left after Kansas, and the one's left may be afraid of wrecking them, saving for a slower track maybe?

I felt that might have been the issue, they tore up a ton of equipment last weekend.

The truck series guys could band together and vow to wreck Kyle out of every race until he gets the hint.

Its a combo of "what's the point" and yea so many teams had their speedway trucks wiped out...Sad as this could be the best series in NASCAR but it never will.

I know it's been beaten to death, but it really would be interesting to see what limiting Cup guys in the lower series could do. Surprisingly, the *tiny* smidge of a decision they made to have drivers declare which championship they'd be running for actually DID help give the lower series a sense of identity. I don't think barring Cup drivers COMPLETELY would do the trick, but limiting them would certainly help viewership, and also help put drivers in cars\trucks that could actually teach them a thing or two.

Unless y'all think more Kevin Conways and Timmy Hills (and talented drivers in sub-par Cup cars) is a good thing. ;)

I'll tell you this, I usually go to Charlotte for the All-Star race. Pretty much the last 10 years. I've only been to the truck race once and that was because I stayed after Cup qualifying. I just didn't want to sit around and watch Kyle Busch win. Plain and simple. We would either just go back to my brothers place or a bar.

I just dont see how anyone except Kyle Busch and his sponsors think it's good to have an idea who's going to win a race the minute the entry list is posted.

the current talent pool in NASCAR is the problem, not the cuppies. There's to much mediocre talent stagnating in good cup backed equipment *cough Ryan Reed cough*. Think about back 10-12 years ago you had drivers like Mike Bliss, Randy Lajoie, ROn Hornady, and David Green all contending for victories against the likes of Jeff Burton,Kevin Harvick, and Matt Kenseth etc etc..... Nowadays no one wants the veteran driver on their team but would rather have a disposable young gun, they can interchange, until finally one of them flukishly actually works and it's stupid cause the teams would do so much better with a veteran driver cause frankly a good majority of field in NASCAR has at least a good 5-10 years left before they start getting old and washed up and needing to be replaced.

TL;DR version: NASCAR teams have saturated the with terrible development drivers who probably won't ever make it to cup and probably will be out of a ride before 5 years are up, and are making the cuppies jobs way to easy on Saturdays.

I don't know if you can point the finger at one thing and say it's to blame for the smaller fields in the truck series. Money is a huge factor. It's just not the sponsorship $, it's also the $ from the factory. Ford doesn't give the factory support that they do in the Cup and Nationwide Series. I think there are some teams that are scared to give a young driver a second chance after they didn't have success the first time around. Kasey Kahne is proof that a second chance can work. He didn't do anything with Yates in the Nationwide Series and then Todd Braun took a chance on him and he ended up getting a Cup ride as a result. You can say the same for Bobby Hamilton, he lost his Cup ride in 1993 and bounced around with several teams before becoming a winning driver with the Pettys.

There are guys like Brad Coleman, Chase Miller, Donny Lia, JR Fitzpatrick and many others who I think could have gone further if they had the chance.

in fairness forcing teams to spend money on fabrication work while the economy is such crap may have been a major factor. :yuk:

Well hey zero Cuppers at Iowa. Could very easily be the best race of the weekend.

There's always good racing at Iowa. Shame that Cup ignores it, would be a better show than the Brickyard 400 or Texas.
