I'm liking the changes to the track, not sure about the need for the final corners, like the whole build up of speed and it kills off the importance of really getting the corners leading onto the oval part right

When I watched that video for the first time, when Seb was near Turn 5, I was like "where is he going, the track turns right at that point !!!" I wasn't aware of the layout changes lol

It's just a mix between Motogp and F1 layout.

I like the changes to the first half of the lap. I wish they'd just use the oval at the end though.

Agree completely. I can't imagine why they felt the need to skip it.

One thing that I've noticed just recently, is how long the Indycar races are on road courses. When ALMS or USC have been included in a double header, the Indycar races have been run over a longer distance, which doesn't make a lot of sense for the "endurance championship". And compared to the F1 races, which are usually 300km's, Indycar races are quite a lot longer. This one is 200 miles/320km, but Barber was scheduled for 214 miles and Mid-Ohio is 203. More road course races are welcome IMO, just for that reason alone.

Having seen that hotlap(s) myself, I like the track. Just wish they used the turn 1 oval to keep the sense of speed going while still holding onto the technical aspect. No real sense of using the MotoGP chicane.

TUSC isn't an endurance championship.

It's just a sportscar series that features some endurance races...those marked by the NAEC.

It feels weird going to their most famous and legendary track and running on a road course.

It looks like they've done a good job with it, but no road course inside an oval is that great a track, it's always a compromise, the oval layout came first and the road course was just an idea of "so, what else can we do with the infield??"

It's like going all the way to wembley stadium and organising a kickabout in the car park,....

However will still give this a chance.
I doubt it'll become anything like as famous as its parent race, perhaps a historical footnote than people might bring up in a quiz in 20 or so years time.
"Did you know that as part of the indy 500 build up they ran an indycar race on the road course layout from 2014 to 20xx?"

Nice track, nice idea, completely the wrong time of year. Hold it on a weekend where your spectator numbers would otherwise be 0.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I think the track is very meh. It seems half assed. It's not the old GP track neither is it the MotoGP circuit. They aren't using an oval turn and that little left right in the middle of the circuit is so hugely needless.

Other than the 12/13 complex, I like the track. Use T1 of the oval in it's entirety and that's a pretty fast, flowing layout.

They do serve the purpose of killing side-by-side action at the beginning of that straight. Should one driver get a better exit before, they'll think twice before going alongside as there's only one tight direct line through there.

I always thought the idea of going there in may before the 500 was not that good, and that was having the GP track in mind. Seeing they aren't even using the oval turn, it's downright ridiculous. Using T12/13 for indycars is a blasphemy any time of the year.

Got rid of the Mickey Mouse corners that Plauged the F1 version of the course, but they also managed to add their own Mickey Mouse corner with 12/13

Agree with the majority - nice course spoiled with needless final turns.

The Indy road course has always been rubbish, tbh.
