'94 and '08 would make for good stories, but then anything with Mansell in it would contain the required amount of drama too.

Quote:
Rush 2: Tache and Burn

The story of a plucky Brummie, his moustache, and the dangers of modern motorsport. Thrill at his explosive career!

* His BRUSH WITH DEATH after pushing an F1 car in a hot country
* His BRUSH WITH DEATH after a commentator pokes a bump on his head
* His BRUSH WITH DEATH after cutting his finger on a sharp trophy
* His BRUSH WITH DEATH after not quite fitting in his car

Bonus features (coming to Blu-Ray):

* His touring car BRUSH WITH DEATH (The part of DEATH is played by Tiff Needell)

Seriously, anything involving Mansell can be made dramatic.

Thought the same, with the main focus on the Villeneuve/Pironi battle.

Perhaps '86 as well.

And of course his BRUSH WITH DEATH when he derped his car into the wall at Le Mans and was so embarrassed he had to feign injury for 20 minutes to get sympathy and his BRUSH WITH DEATH when his hysterical reaction to Dennis Vitollo crashing into him at Indy sent both he and a marshal sprawling. Yeah, this could be a 30 DVD boxed set.

I don't think there would be any other movie like Rush with many historical notes that can become a success for the 'non motorsport enthusiast'.

Some say 1982, but the character that would probably be the most popular with a big advance dies somewhere in the middle of the movie... and the 'enemy' will go on... (at least for a certain part). I don't think that fits in Hollywoods storytelling...

Then I think the story I did would be a better idea: :p

http://tbk.fameflame.dk/viewtopic.php?f ... 60218fd584

I know it wasn't finished, and will never be...

the story was to continue as follows: the 'Black knight' continued winning races with a huge margin, until there was a huge 'Kubica Canada style' crash which was not his fault and his car was totally destroyed. The driver itself was 'destroyed' too, as it proved to be some kind of robot (how original!! :excited: ). In fact, he was killed in the car accident as shown on page two, but his father kept alive his son's dream to become world champion F1 one day...

that would have been the storyline... :slaphead:

my idea came from a mix of a Michel Vaillant comic called the white prince (he was a real driver, unknown and also winning races, but his engine proved to be illegal in the end) and the fact that the Williams Renault back then was concidered as a driving computer, that you would almost need no driver anymore...

Not sure what you're all getting at. Mansell isn't dramatic in the slightest...

Nope. Even an 'exciting' trip in a two-seater is a borefest :(

1984, with Monaco controversy being decisive.

1986 is a great year

2010 had so many twists as well in the championship battle

The Schumacher saga to get the first drivers title for Ferrari in almost 20 years, starting in 1996 and up to 2000

Fangios career, until the Norscheliefe legendary run that culminated in his retirement some months later, after giving his all there. Well, a resume of the 50s makes a good story. Some history about Jim Clark as well.

I think any of Piquet`s titles were dramatic enough to make for a movie, 1987 then, when he morally desistabilized Mansell, when he didn`t have the capacity to really go for it anymore after Imola`s wreck.

What was the controversy at Monaco in 1984?

Stopping the race for the rain just before Senna got to the French rival, giving Prost the win with half points, if they had gone the distance and he finished second, he would have scored an extra point and a half and secured the world title by one, ironically... against Lauda. :D
http://www.formula1.com/results/driver/1984/

One fact that adds up to the controversy is that the race director was French as well, this always fueled up conspiracy theories that he did this on purpose to secure the win for his fellow countryman. It gets even more dramatic as you see the image of Prost just parking in front of the director who was waving the red flag, like he was in despair, like a coward, while Senna flashes by the straight overtaking him in the most brilliant form. I can only smile every time I think how this backfired him.

It`s one of the most amazing stories. But that Lauda and Prost won`t make for such characters as the young Lauda and Hunt did. And that`s a problem with most stories, they may be great epic ones on track, but the characters behind the helmet may not be the same. Indeed the year that Rush depicts is the most rich full one for the movies.

Edit: Post 2000 :flag:

Well, it's impossible to say really. If the race had gone the full distance, and if none of the cars had reliability issues, and if they didn't crash, and if they had been able to overtake cleanly, and if the conditions remained poor for another hour... Then Prost would have finished third and still not taken enough points. Bellof would have won from Senna.

well, in 1984 it was going to be the same, as Senna suspension would collapse after 2 or 3 laps (he went to fast in the chicane) and Bellof was going to be stripped of the victory if he had won as Tyrrell was disqualified

the only thing that could had changed was Prost winning the championship, as they could race until full points could be awarded, but that was past and is part of the lore now

about a Rush sequel, they could do about 1970 championship, with Bernie Ecclestone to Jochen Rindt "if you want to win, go to Lotus, if you want to stay alive drive a Brabham", then Monza and finally at Watkins Glen Fittipaldi preventing Ickx to win championship

This is obvious for Rush 2:

Michael Schumacher vs. Mika Häkkinen

- they collided in junior formulas already (F3 Macau)
- both entered F1 nearly at the same time in midfield teams
- both got the speed to climb up to the top
- 1994 roller-coaster season
- both had serious accidents but recovered (Mika 1995, Schumi 1999)
- 1996 craziness
- 1997, the promise of better
- 1998, the clash of the titans
- 1998 Suzuka, the handshake, the race, the drama, the triumph
- 1999 - 2000, switch of the power balance, dawn of Michael's era
- Mika quits, Michael dominates

That's where you can go for the end montage, like in the Rush final scenes of mix between staged acting and real footage.

THIS is obvious for Rush 2:

1982-1985: The Comeback

Lauda returns to the racing seat, while Hunt sits on his ass in the BBC commentary booth and is getting paid to drink wine while making TV of it. Which of course pisses Lauda off, and goes out to show Hunt that racing cars is a better living than talking about racing cars. When Lauda wins the 1984 championship, they reunites as friends again: "I couldn't have won it without you talking about it!" - "I couldn't have talked about it without you racing for it!"

Wasn't there a 1982 film planned?
