Following the success of ther 2013 season edition and with only a handful of weeks left before the official start to the season in Australia, I thought it would be a good time to get the 2014 edition up and running.

For those that are unfamiliar with the game and to recap for everyone else, it is very simple:

All you need to do is pick one driver per race and where they finish is the the points you will score. The person with the lowest score at the end of the season will win. For instance, if you pick Kimi Raikkonen for Australia and he wins then you score 1 point... Should you choose Pastor Maldonado and he finishes 18th, then you score 18 points.

I've tried to keep it simple and allow you to enter now and basically forget about it for the rest of the season.

The Rules:
- The person with the lowest total score at the end of the season will be Champion
- Pick one driver per race (only the driver, not the finishing position)
- You can only choose a driver once in the season
- There are 19 races and 22 drivers, so you must have 3 drivers unused at the end of the season
- Points will be awarded based on the finishing position of the driver picked... i.e. 1st scores 1 point down to 22 points for 22nd place finish
- Should a driver retire from a race, then you will score points for the position they end in... i.e. driver to retire first finishes 22nd, therefore 22 points scored
- Should a driver be replaced or substituted, the replacement will count as your pick
- For the purposes of scoring and avoidance of doubt, the results for each race will be taken from F1.com
- Picks can only be changed, updated or amended up until midnight Friday 14th March 2014 and not thereafter
- Late entries are welcome, but you will be scored 22 points (last place) per race for each race that has been completed before joining
- Scores will be updated the week after each race has run
- A tie breaker is required to avoid any potential equal scores
- The tie breaker will be measured to the closest second only of the winner's finish time for the 2014 Russian GP, 100ths and 1000ths of a second will be ignored
- Tie breaker will only be used at the end of the season and in the event that any entrants have the same scores
- Please post all picks at the start of the season as follows (including answer to tie breaker):

1) Australia - Jenson Button
2) Malaysia - Seb Vettel
3) China - Nico Rosberg
etc...

Tie Breaker - To the closest second only, what will the winners finish time be for the 2014 Russian GP?

Good luck.

Please use the following to post your picks:

01) Australia -
02) Malaysia -
03) China -
etc...

Tie Break - x hours x minutes xx seconds

Round 01 Australian GP

One race down and eighteen to go. Going into the first race most felt that a Mercedes was a sure bet to win. Well four of you were right and the other 14 were downright unlucky. Thankfully no-one picked Red Bull duo Daniel Ricciardo (DSQ from 2nd) and Seb Vettel (retired... "this is ridiculous!") although this was probably a good race to pick a Toro Rosso, who typically pick up points in Australia. And no-one did. Now some did pick Felipe Massa and Valterri Bottas and who can blame them following the impressive pre-season form of the Williams? But despite that impressive form you cannot account for a technically challenged Caterham heading into turn one on the first lap of the opening race.

Round 02 Malaysian GP

Two races done already. It wasn't too long ago that we were waiting to hear the new engines, I mean power units, in anger for the first time.

The race was all about Lewis Hamilton, who dominated qualifying and the race. And while Lewis has always been competitive in Malaysia before Sunday he'd never stood on the top step of the podium. Congratulations to our winners of the round, stimaro and Philthy82.

While Mercedes was the team of choice in Australia, this time Williams was the overall pickers choice with 7 people choosing Felipe Massa and 4 going for Valtteri Bottas. The team had a competent weekend with a 7th and 8th place result. However it was also an incompetent weekend as the team failed to properly manage the early race challenge to Kevin Magnussen and then got embroiled in team orders when trying to challenge Jenson Button.

Now we're two races in we can start looking at the overall scores. Versus this time in 2013 the average score is much higher. Many players have been burnt in the first two rounds by choosing Lewis Hamilton, Jules Bianchi and Sergio Perez. Some players have used two of those three. But there are 17 more races to change our luck.

Round 03 Bahrain GP

Sunday night lights were the setting for a thrilling battle between the Mercedes duo, witnessed by many across the world except Luca Di Montezemelo who left the circuit in a huff because Fernando "I bring 0.5 seconds" Alonso and Kimi "ICE CREAM KIMI PITZZZZ" Raikkonen were unable to mount a serious challenge for the race.

After a couple of laps it was clear one of two cars was going to win the race, but which Mercedes would it be? Thanks to 1) Rosberg's efforts and then 2) a late Maldonado-idiocy induced safety car the result was never clear until a couple of laps prior to the flag. So congratulations to our winners of the round, acopip and Merton who successfully selected Lewis Hamilton.

8 people chose a Mercedes in Bahrain, 2 to Hamilton and 6 to Rosberg. In the first three races Mercedes has scored well apart the unlucky few who picked Hamilton in Australia. In Bahrain the pick of the week was again a Williams and again Massa, who was picked by 8 people. Another 7 picked Bottas. It seems to me that most expect Williams to drop down the order as the season goes on, so we're banking on Williams securing a good result at the start of the year.

I'd like to offer a special mention to a couple of people - Philthy82 leads the way with a 7 points, having secured two 3rds and a win in the first three races. He's also the only member that is still in the single digits. Then there is De Cesaris fan, who most may remember had a pretty torrid 2013 season in this competition and was rooted to the lower end of the table for most of the year. Well 2014 has started much brighter and he currently sits 6th in the standings.

Commiserations should go to two people in particular. Firstly Dicksplaash, who having picked Rosberg to win the Australian GP and lead the standings after round 01, has followed up that win with two 22nd place positions in the subsequent Malaysian and Bahrain GPs. Secondly to Bleu, who is a mere 7 points away from a maximum score after just three rounds and sits firmly at the tail end of the table. Here's wishing you both a change of luck soon.

Round 04 Chinese GP

4 races, 4 wins for Mercedes. 4 races, 3 wins for Lewis Hamilton. 4 races, 2 teams orders for Sebastian Vettel. 4 races, 1 smile from Fernando Alonso.

The race wasn't a classic but it did kind of remind me of one of those pre-1994 pit stop GPs. The leader clears off into the distance and controls the race with ease, then the remaining points positions are fought over by a few but the battles aren't as hoped and the end of result seems fairly predictable. Still, it was more exciting than most GPs I remember from 1992 or 1993. As for the race itself is was much of the same from what we've seen so far in Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain. Mercedes on top, followed by a Ferrari and / or Red Bull, Force India punching above it's weight again and Williams once more flatters to deceive.

Congratulations to our round winners Lucasjeha, De Cesaris fan and kals for picking (surprise surprise) a Mercedes driven by Lewis Hamilton. Although the biggest congratulations should go to Philthy82 for picking up his 4th podium of the season after Alonso's third place and sits comfortably atop the standings.

DO YOU REMEMBER - What of our 2013 top 3? Our reigning Champion pimmy and runner-up kals are still fighting a hard fought battle, with only 6 points separating them. Yet their fight is down the far reaches of the table. Whereas our second runner-up Soul Reaver is having a fair to middling start to the season, sitting on the fringes of the top 10.

Round 05 Spanish GP

Another weekend, another race steamrollered Mercedes.. which some people felt was more like a steamer...

An intense('ish) battle at the front which flattered to deceive. Barcelona has never been an easy track to pass on and even with a huge DRS advantage, 2011 proved the outcome of a potential lead battle. But anyway, happiness was found in Daniel Ricciardo picking up his maiden (legal) podium by finishing third and outperforming Vettel.

Congratulations to our round winners LucasWheldon and vince for picking (4th time in a row) the Mercedes driven by Lewis Hamilton.

DO YOU REMEMBER - After 4 rounds Philthy82 picks for the previous rounds had resulted in podiums each time and he sat atop of the title race. Well in Spain he had Felipe Massa. Oh dear!

Round 07 Canadian GP

Wait what?! What just happened? Both Mercedes suffer exactly the same issue on the same lap and both start losing 2-3 seconds per lap as the pit lane boffins attempt to remedy the issue. And as a result of these maladies, Daniel Ricciardo storms through to secure his maiden F1 win. Awesome!

Canada is one of Lewis' strongest tracks but the curse of the commentator (well done NBCSN "he wins every other year, so he'll win this one") condemned him. Nico now sits 22 points ahead of his team mate atop the title standings with Riccardo almost the same number of points ahead of Vettel. Who'd have thought? At least Nico's good luck and Lewis' reliability issues are ensuring the title race is an exciting one.

Congratulations to our round winner erwin greven for being the only person to pick a Mercedes (hang on, sorry, force of habit)... the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo.

DO YOU REMEMBER - Canada seems to like producing first time winners (and sometimes in unusual circumstances)...

1989 - Thierry Boutsen, in a strange wet dry wet dry race that Senna looked set to win, as did Derek Warwick before the Williams driver took the chequered flag
1995 - Jean Alesi, this race was controlled by Michael Schumacher until late in the race when he could no longer control his car thanks to electrical issues that were remedied by a change of steering wheel
2007 - Lewis Hamilton, from start to finish it was all about Lewis... apart from when Alonso went off the road every couple of laps, apart from when Kubica had an almighty shunt, apart from when Sato in the Super Aguri stormed past a couple of people (including Alonso) to secure points for the small Japanese squad
2008 - Robert Kubica, BMW team orders played out to ensure a BMW 1-2 after Lewis Hamilton removed himself and Kimi Raikkonen in the best pitlane lolz since David Coulthard at the 1995 Australian GP
2014 - Daniel Ricciardo, well you know what happened yesterday...

Round 08 Austrian GP

Will Lewis rue his qualifying mistakes at the end of the year? Was Williams truly in contention for a win? How great was it to see Williams race up front again but also to see Massa being trounced by his younger and less outspoken team mate?

The race seemed to produce a marmite reaction. Some thought it was good, some the opposite. Whatever the opinion it again featured Mercedes domination and Red Bull nee Renault faltering. Fernando Alonso was the best of the non-Mercedes rest and held off an impressive Sergio Perez, who was part powered by Mercedes and part powered by righting the wrongs of Canada.

Congratulations to our round winners rallyman69, Spekktrum and Soul Reaver for selecting the Williams of Valterri Bottas who scored his first F1 podium by finishing 3rd.

DO YOU REMEMBER - The last time F1 return to Austria was in 1997 when the circuit was called the A1-Ring. It was a fun race and featured a Mercedes engine failing and a Renault engine winning. Fast forward 17 years and the opposite happened at the second return of F1 to Austria.

Round 09 British GP

Well then. That'll be 2-1 then. 2 retirements to Lewis versus the 1 for Nico. But while good fortune is welcome for Lewis he should really count his lucky stars after his mistake on Saturday. Again. That's three races in a row that Lewis has messed up his Q3 attempt(s).

The race was pretty good and outside of the Mercedes dominating once again, Nico's first retirement of the season and a couple of nice drives by Bottas and Ricciardo, we were served a wonderful battle between Alonso and Vettel. But thanks to the TV director wishing to let us hear each and every comment from both drivers it turned a great on-track spectacle to pathetic Big Brother style slanging match.

Congratulations to our round winners osella 1986 and Lucky Strike FAN for selecting the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton who took his second British GP win, a full 6 years after the first.

DO YOU REMEMBER - The last time there was a lot of radio traffic involving Vettel during a late race battle at Silverstone. Then in 2012 he was trying to keep Mark Webber at bay and RBR was trying with all their might to control the Aussie.

Round 10 German GP

Is this going to decide the title? 3-1 is the score, with 3 significant technical failures setting back Lewis and Nico is capitalizing each time. Perhaps the score should be 3-2 but Nico managed to make his brakes last in Canada. The season is starting to remind me of 1989, just without the acrimony. The top two in the title are far and away dominating but the quickest guy though is suffering from many more reliability issues than his team mate. That's not me calling or comparing Lewis Hamilton to Ayrton Senna, so don't attack me please. Just pointing out some comparatives.

The race was a cracker with some amazing drives and battles throughout. Lewis coming from the back, Ricciardo slicing through the field and ending with a phenomenal battle with Alonso and then Vettel (anyone remember him?) getting the measure of his team mate to finish a solid fourth. Oh and the race also had FLIPPERRZZZ and FIRRREEEEEEEE as well as a CAAARRRUUSSHEEEE in qualifying and a wild conspiracy theory (and one particular idiotic theorist, not Lewis though...) thanks to Adrian Sutil's parked Sauber. The only thing the race didn't have was ice cream or KIMI PITZZZZ. Well, there's always next time.

Congratulations to our round winner Mäth for being the only person to pick Nico Rosberg for his home GP and duly collected a win.

DO YOU REMEMBER - The last time Williams scored 3 podiums in a row? I was still in my early twenties and living in England and no-one yet knew the real reason why Ralf liked to borrow his "girlfriend's" blind hair dye.

Sure thing Fish88.

Thanks for all the entries so far. If we get anywhere near the level of entries we got in 2013 I'll be delighted.

And lol at StanV's predictions and tie breaker!
