Great recovery from Bottas. I'm not sure he would have finished much higher without the mistake anyway.

He certainly would have been closer, if not ahead of Alonso. Whether he would have been up with Button, we'll never know. Still a good race for him. Bodes well for a good season for Williams.

That's a hell of a debut for Kevin. Good work, and a good podium overall!

Rosberg was having some engine issues on the in-lap, Said it was acting strangely & cutting. Team said they could see the problem & to not stop on track.

anyone know why the rain lights come on every once in a while?
They explained it on the UK broadcast - it indicates that the ERS system is has charge but is NOT being used. I guess it tends to come on in braking zones as a car goes from 'empty' charge to 'charging' as it breaks.

A likeable top three, but wished the Hulk finished better.

This is a new low for podium interviews. He's not even asking questions, just stating some things.

i thought it wasnt that special. as feared, a lot of cars stayed in line and there true battles were rare. could have been worse, but could have been better too.

Agreed. Good thing Bottas didn't retire after his accident, otherwise I might not have made it through.

Pretty concerning for the rest of the season that no one at the front seemed brave enough to have a go. All seemed very timid and sedate. I do wonder if, as in 2010 with the tyres, the drivers are going to end up too concerned over fuel to try to overtake

Bottas had a fine drive today, if he didn't had that over enthusiasm moment he could have gone to podium

Very interesting race, great job by many young drivers!! Loved the way Bottas drove.

Also, Chilton manages to continue his finishing streak :p

Agree with the previous comments that we did not see much action. Hopefully we can get that improved.

Overall it was a good race.. I still hate the exhaust note though..

Intresting race for Ferrari.. Kimi looked like he was struggling with the electronic breaking system.

I don't think the fuel saving will be as big an issue as the season goes on, Melbourne is 2nd worst as far as fuel usage goes (Montreal is worse), Plus as teams/drivers gain a better understanding of things & as the power units/software are developed/improved things should improve.

I remember 2004 when we had 1 engine per-weekend & the 1st 2-3 races they were a bit conservative with them towards the end of the races but as they discovered reliability wans't too bad they started pushing to the end. Was the same when the Multi-Race engines were introduced from 2005 & in 2010 when refueling was banned they were extra conservative to start with.

And to be honest I don't think it was as bad as expected today, The extra formation lap & safety car helped but we still saw drivers pushing & from the OnBoards they were not saving fuel quite as much or for a s long as I was expecting them to.

The worst part of the fuel rules is the limiting of fuel flow to 100kg/h. Therefore we're probably not going to see anyone hitting 15.000 anytime soon.

Complaints about none of the cars finishing don't pan out. Complaints about the cars being slower than gp2 don't pan out. Complaints about the usual suspects being at the front don't pan out. So we complain about the race being too boring, even though the teams and drivers were always going to be careful in the first race with so many new elements and unknowns.

Ahhh TBK, never change. (or rather, fucking please do)
