I miss IROC and Goody's Dash :(

Still, off season over, new qualy rules, new plate rules, time to get unreasonably excited for something year on year we know an either be amazingly fantastic or amazingly shitty with nothing in between!

I'm definitely looking forward to it! It's a very different schedule from the first year I really started watching all things NASCAR coverage in 1996...

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/even ... s3502.html

3 days of ARCA practice and quals, 3 rounds of Daytona 500 qualifying, 2 rounds of Goody's Dash and Busch Grand National qualifying. The Busch boys rolled in on Monday and had nearly a week to get ready. IROC practice, and a ton of extra practice when time allowed. This was all before Daytona had lights of course, but it was a true Speedweeks... cars were on track from dawn til dusk for over a week. Oh well, the times change just like a condensed month of May in Indy and shortened race weeks in Charlotte.

Here's to hoping for a great kickoff to a great 2014!

The duels are at 7 EST? Aren't they usually afternoon races? (Not complaining - this means I can actually watch them!)

Yeah those were some of the few that I didn't tape over. I might still have some others. I usually just recorded everything that happened all day when I was at school in case of something notable or an accident, but taped over them once I ran out of tapes for something else. I sure wish I hadn't now!

Those were the best races of the week last year (if you ignore the NWS for it's crash status), my Mrs is going to be so pissed this year when I wish her happy birthday then turn on Fox Sports 1 for the rest of the day

I'm actually glad they moved the Shootout and start of the season back a week. There were a few years that certain things would interfere with Valentine's Day... as much as I loved to watch plate racing, I also didn't want to hear constant reminders about how crappy her Valentine's Day was. haha

The 2010 Daytona 500 was on Valentine's Day.... so the wife and I just celebrated the night prior, going out to dinner and all. No big deal. She didn't wanna miss out on the 500 anymore than I did.

I actually wish they would move the 500 back to where it was. I prefer it being on Presidents Day weekend.

Hopefully Larson stays away from the Battle at the Beach. He ruined that event last year.

I've tried and tried, and she's come to four races with us as a family, but she just hasn't really gotten into it beyond making fun of a few drivers because they're whiny little brats. haha

The 2010 Daytona 500 was indeed on Valentine's Day... I remember it well. Biggest race of the year made excruciatingly long due to completely messed up and unforseen circumstances - pot-hole gate. It was a couple weeks before she stopped reminding me about that one.

Well I more meant how they've added some rules banning the tandem draft, or did I just dream that? :?
