Excuse my ignorance..what is the no pushing rule?

NASCAR have brought it in for this season to try to prevent the tandem (basically a cheap and easy solution rather than spending money on changing the cars). Bump drafting is still fine, but drivers aren't allowed to stay hooked up for any period of time. You can see how this is open to interpretation - yesterday, drivers started bumping each other continuously while coming only about half an inch off their rear bumper, so they were sort of 'bouncing' off of the car infront all the way round the track. Lots of drivers were doing this, but for some reason only Buescher got penalized.

Ok that explains my confusion. I thought that it would be some rule about something I don't understand. Never would I have thought they've just banned drivers for pushing each other, since that's completely unenforceable and ridiculous. But I guess I forgot this is NASCAR after-all, and what's sensible doesn't matter.

As for Nationwide, why don't they just say if you are running at least half a cup season then you can't run more than a quarter of Nwide races or something? There's so many solutions to the problem, that I don't understand why it's still an issue.

If you're top 30 in Cup, you can't run more than 6 races. You get no money and no owner/driver points.

Weather.com has a clear forecast until 3 pm, when chance of rain jumps to 90%. Perhaps we'll be racing to lap 101 today.

So we'll probably have a big one before then and the rain comes while under caution.

Does this apply to all three series? I guess at least with the shape of cup cars it'd be much harder to tandem draft for any length of time as it is.

Would anyone notice if the race was permanently shortened to 500km? It is not like the first 400 miles will matter much. I guess NASCAR has some "fireworks" in plan.

Some weather for you folks:

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0150.html

Anything north (above) that red line will likely be poured upon. Yes, that includes Daytona. The radar image showing a massive amount of precip slowly but surely drifting ESE. Daytona would be that green dot towards the right, on the coast. I think we might be screwed today...

Doing some math, rain should be at the track in approx. 4 hours from now, or around 2:30pm ET.

I think I said this last year; Nascar can suck eggs for pushing the 500 back a weekend a few years ago. There wasn't any rain last week....

Perhaps you should suck eggs for thinking the rain follows a weekly schedule.

Maybe you should just suck eggs cause they're rich in protein.

BTW, the guy whos singing the national anthem looks EXACTLY like Giancarlo Esposito

Updated radar image. I've circled the track. The storms look to have made a more straight east turn. Hopefully we'll be lucky and have everything skirt to the north. Otherwise, there's a lot of rain we'll be waiting on.
