If Ingall didn't get penalized, I think he would have won the damn thing.

Pretty strong words from Ingall on the stewards there.

Based on the fact that in just over a year since V8s were opened up to other manufacturers all 3 new cars have won, I'd say the COTF is a pretty big success. Hope V8SC capitalises on this and attracts more manufacturers to the sport. Maybe Merc will reconsider factory support for Erebus?

From what I've heard the relationship between Erebus and Merc is now a frosty one, although there are members on here who probably have better knowledge.... but yes I agree 100% with the COTF success

COTF has definitely been a success imo, still quite a lot going on in the background with parity, particularly on the engine front and also new transparency rules which allow the teams to purchase homologated engine parts off other teams if they like it or not, so particularly with the pushrod engine suppliers you can expect a bit of that over the course of the year, will be interesting to see if there is any backlash as a result. Have not seen yesterdays race unfortunately but had a laugh at Mr Ingall's words played on the news this morning haha.

So many pit lane speeding penalties. Both Volvos, Rick Kelly, Ingall and now Coulthard.

Apparently a timing line was on a corner and people were taking a shortcut, which then said they were speeding. Like Vettel did in Singapore 2009.

James Courtney would certainly think the COTF is a massive success.

When Erebus went to Mercedes in Germany, they got a big fat no to use their cars in V8 Supercars. They ended up getting permission however from the Asia Pacific arm of Mercedes Benz, same group that allows them to run the GT cars.

I believe, anyway.

It was the other way around.

AMG were keen (Erebus were paying them to build the engines afterall), and Mercedes in Germany were supportive on the proviso that the local arm approved... which they were relunctant to do so until late in the day.

Mercedes don't have much to do with the Erebus GT cars other than being a part of the customer support program.

They have to do it, 25 cars for a big race like Bathurst is very shitty.

Dev cars are just as quick as the "COTF" cars around there too which would make things interesting. Most of the half decent drivers in the dunlop series are co-drivers for main game teams anyway however, would spice things up with slower, less capable drivers in the mix.

Just got back from Calder Park this morning where i had a few Hotlaps with the Nissan Team. They literally drove straight from Winton this morning to Calder for a ride day. Was lucky enough to tee up a ride fulfilling a dream i've had for quite a while now, to experience exactly what a fully fledged V8 Supercar feels like being thrashed around a circuit. And i can tell you......it was A------mazing!!!

Awesome experience mate! It's definitely something those with the opportunity should try. What was the biggest "woah" factor for you? Braking performance?
