Good article. Nice to hear from people actually building and running cars.

TUSC/IMSA aren't doing a stellar job but it should be noted that Kirby has deliberately picked out a P2 team that were so poor at setting up and engineering their cars last year that they were either on fire or being beaten by PC cars and a classic crybaby type in Tim Keene of Ganassi in order that the article hits a maximum "doom and gloom" tone.

I think the truth of the matter lies a bit closer to the middle than the teams would admit.

According to Endurance-Info, an HPD turbo V6 engine for the DP class might debut as soon as Sebring. There is no official statement yet, but Starworks might be the first to receive this new unit.

P2 are going to clean up at Sebring.

I forsee many suspension failures in the DP's.

Dunno about cleaning up - certainly Muscle Milk and Oak will no doubt do well so assuming they don't hit any mechanical maladies I'd say that's probably the top 2. Given the lack of quality of the rest of the P2s it'll probably be a DP in 3rd.

Team LNT are planning to enter some TUSC rounds later in the year with their Ginetta G55. Tres awesome.

Yay for triple posting:

GAINSCO/Stallings' season is over as they've decided to withdraw as a consequence of the Daytona accident. The Corvette is as total loss as total loss can be, and they want to take time to re-evaluate their operation. Adding to that the personal suffering of Memo Gidley, they've decided to put 2014 to bed.

That's one attractive competitor gone.

That sucks but it's hardly surprising. Upwards of half a million bucks to enter three more races almost entirely out of Stallings' own pocket? He's a rich man but not infinitely so.

Reading between the lines and knowing how these things usually go, I'd be surprised to see them back again. Real shame because they've been a front-runner for years

Sounds like a bunch of excuses for not having money. And speaking of that, I'm sorry the reason for widthdrawing isn't Tucker being jailed.

If there ever was a team that I'd be happy to see get out, it's Level 5.

Either that or it's been made clear to them that they can't dictate rules to the ruling body and get all kinds of waivers and breaks any more and Tucker's chucked all his toys out the pram. Whatever the reason, good riddance.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Hopefully not to return to TUSCC, or WEC/Le Mans.

They were never going to run a P2 because they have actual competition this year. And whilst ALMS was happy to bend over and let Tucker do what he wanted, to keep an extra couple of cars in the field, NASCAR won't because now we're flooded with cars.

Also, interesting and funny fact. The GTD Ferraris are slower than the Ferrari Challenge cars, which are basically just slightly tarted up road cars. The GTD Ferraris have to be detuned just to get them down to GTD times. That's kinda sad really, as racing should be about going faster.
