and for the first time, championship will be decided on the court

1989 British F3 Championship was awarded to David Brabham in 1990 after a long and protracted court battle. Not F1, but still relevant.

a couple of years ago a brazilian GT championship was also decided on court, one lifted off and helped another to win the championship

Former F1/Champcar driver was severly injured during a accident driving a scooter together with his wife. His face took quite a beating and he lost ~9 tooth as his jaw was fractured in multiple ways.

On a completely different note: During Jim Clarks two WDC seasons, his team mates scored a total of 10 points, when Clark scored a total of 13 wins. Was he really that good, or was his team mates (Mike Spence and Trevor Taylor) just complete garbage drivers, or did Lotus just provide one good car and the second car was only for testing?

So if they have a puncture and they pit to get it changed, is that a penalty? Or is that ok because this vague rule isn't going to apply to this?

Usual bullshit from the rule makers.

That's just common sense. I know the FIA doesn't have much of it, but they're not complete morons.

Well no, it isn't just common sense. Because the rule specifically states they must drive the car unaided. If they consider talking to the driver as an aid, then they must consider pit stops an aid. Therefore this rule makes pit stops illegal.

Or, we just apply the rule whenever we feel like it. Which sounds exactly like what they'll do, which means this is unenforceable, which means it's an argument waiting to happen.

Clark was THAT good, yes. Spence and Taylor had their moments of brilliance too, but nowhere near that of Clark's. Of course, Colin Chapman probably only cared for Clark. They were BFF's remember.

About everyone who saw Clark race say he was the greatest ever.

There will be arguments, but I very much doubt telling someone to pit because of an issue is going to be considered an aid, because apart from the fact that it's a safety issue, there may be times in which the driver is unaware of a problem or a problem that might happen.

Quote:
Q: Are warnings about the condition of the brakes or tyres (slow puncture) still allowed?
A: No, this should be displayed to the driver from data gathered onboard, again like a fuel gauge on a road car.

According to the FIA they will be penalised for this.

My point stands for any mechanical issue and missing bodywork, for example.

So is it ok to tell them a wing is missing, but NOT ok to tell them theres a slow puncture?

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm using this as an example of why it's a monumentally stupid idea.

Soooooo...I was on sky's f1 show last night. Anyone see it?

(No. ... me neither. Might have been my first time watching it too. :p lb )

Johnny herbert was great though even if he singled me out to disagree with me about the team radio.
And I hope my massive eye roll was caught on camera when sky tried to stoke the fires of n nico being told to hand the race to lewis with the fans :p

But that's still aiding the driver. But if that is legal then they'll say the same stuff as before, but the fans won't get to hear it. So we get a worse show, because the rule makers are morons.

Cool, I have just never really heard his name too frequently when the discussion of "the greatest driver ever" pops up, and when I saw that he was this dominant during his winning years, it seemed a bit odd.
