Holy shit! I never knew just how badly the cockpit was destroyed. I've only ever seen video and photos from long shots, despite this being one of F1s most iconic accidents.

Changing the subject a little, does anyone have the F1 app on multiple devices? I had it on my iPad Mini, but yesterday I had an unfortunate fall into the ocean while the iPad was in my pocket. So today I bought a new one, and downloaded the F1 app, but it doesn't say I have a season pass... Does anyone have it on multiple devices (say an iPad and an iPhone) where you only had to buy it once? I'm signed into the same account. I should not have to buy it again.

Maldonado paid $25m to leave Williams

Quote:
A $25 million termination payment from Pastor Maldonado's sponsor helped Williams to drive back into profit. The publicly-listed British team released its 2013 financial results on Friday, showing a $20m operating profit despite a poor season on track. The Telegraph newspaper said the result was helped by a one-off termination payment made by the Venezuelan oil company PDVSA, who wanted to move their backing of driver Maldonado to the Lotus team for 2014. The report said the payment "is believed to be in the region of $25m", in the wake of a more than $8 million loss recorded by Williams just a year ago.

I have it on multiple devices. When you open the app, it should take you to the page where you can buy the season pass. At the bottom is a button that says "Restore Purchases". Et voila, you can use it again. Just make sure you are logged in with the same Apple-ID :)

Just got back from Circuit of the Americas, joined a tour and was able to view some racing from the tower. Will post a couple of photos later.

Here in Brazil during the 1st of May there were inumerous tributes to Ayrton Senna live on TV.
But probably the most important was made by a sports national channel called SporTV.

They broadcasted, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, Ayrton most important races in his career.
From Monaco 1984 to Monaco 1993, there were lots of amazing moments.

It was a nice tribute.
There aren't many sports channels doing that kind of stuff.

Senna is an acceptable name in The Netherlands.
200 girls and 35 boys named Senna last year.

The real obstacle would have been my wife as we decided to just use 1 name.

This is starting to get mental, makes you wonder how much guy's like Chilton must bring

Quote:
Even with $14 million in his hand, reigning GP2 champion Fabio Leimer could not buy his way into Formula One.

The 25-year-old Swiss, who will instead race sports cars in 2014, was healthily backed by his wealthy long-time sponsor Rainer Gantenbein.

The veteran correspondent for Blick newspaper, Roger Benoit, claims Gantenbein offered Sauber almost $14 million in exchange for one of the Hinwil based team's race seats this year.

But Leimer has reportedly told some insiders that Sauber's counter-proposal was no less than $28 million -- slightly less than what Esteban Gutierrez's Mexican backers pay.

Instead, Sauber signed the experienced Adrian Sutil to be Gutierrez's new teammate.

It's quite hard to believe that Leimer story to be true

I can't see Sutil bringing more money than that alleged value or even close to that(maybe $5m) and he never proved to be anything other than a mediocre driver, either. So I can't fathom Sauber letting pass what would be a very good offer from Leimer considering he's also quite talented, as his GP2 career showed.

As a long time fan of Sauber I just hope Gutierrez and Sutil can go away ASAP. I would prefer even GvdG on the car taking his Caterham good performances into consideration and the good laptimes he did when drove the car in one of FP1s, this year.

Azerbaijan GP Confirmed for 2015

Quote:
Azerbaijan is taking Korea’s full-time place on the grand prix calendar starting in 2015, Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed. It is expected a city street race in the capital Baku will be announced later this month. Formula 1 chief executive Ecclestone this week indicated the oil-rich former Soviet race is taking the place on the calendar formerly occupied by South Korea, where a race at unpopular Yeongam was last held in 2013. Korean organisers have baulked at the sport’s high sanctioning fees.

I give it three years before it's replaced by the Somalia GP or Bangladesh GP. While France, country with a deep history in racing, remains off the schedule.

Well in these cases like you mention I prefer that they do a street race instead of ruining an entire landscape for just 4 events like they did in Korea.

Rumours are though that the Russian GP isn't safe because of all the tentions and Azerbaijan might already jump in this year. Don't know if they'll be able to make it though.

As for Russia, I don't think it'll happen.

I'm fine as long as it's not European race that gets scrapped due to Azerbaijan. In march Bernie was talking about Magny-Cours making a return. I wonder what has happened since.
