If Fernandes is still pouring money into QPR, it's probably not Caterham. I'd not be surprised if it was Force India. But Marussia's the best bet, yeah. Can't see them lasting too much longer, at least in their current form

Rencken's latest column on F1's finances has this:

'Rumours are rife that one of the four is down to its last £5m (10 per cent of the most parsimonious budget) with no relief in sight, and fears abound that even Thursday's meeting, regardless of outcome, could be too late.'

The four he is referring to are Force India, Sauber, Caterham and Marussia (the teams which wrote a letter to Todt questioning the legality of the Strategy Group under EU abuse laws).

I doubt it's Sauber because why go test someone who's not even a Friday driver if the situation is that dire?

Promotional stuff, looking they changed the whole livery they must have paid big time.

All four teams aren't in a rosy situation (as you know). Out of the four, Force India probably has the least immediate worries, ditto as you say with Caterham.

Lately both Sauber & Marussia has been most vocal about cost cutting...

Regarding the financial distribution - I think you have to reward success and give the best team the most money. But when you compare Ferrari's prize money with Marussia's, it is indeed a joke. Compare the Premier League's distribution to that of F1 and it's chalk and cheese. Of course the top teams don't want it to change, so at least the bottom teams are doing something.

What they should do - Force India in particular - is show their budget because it'll make someone on the board at Fiat wonder why they're pumping so much money into their team, when a smaller team is doing better.

I've always wondered how/why Simtek elected to start the race after Roland's incident the day before and didn't withdraw out of respect.

I was asked in the evening if I wanted to race on the Sunday or not, the team and the FIA said it was my call. I had never experienced losing a team mate before, so I just didn’t know what to do. My mind was all over the place and I just couldn’t think clearly enough. For whatever reason, I suggested I do the warm up and see how it went and then make a decision.

...

I did the warm up, it was all a bit of a blur to be honest. We were faster than normal, I’m not sure why. It wasn’t like I was driving to the limit, I couldn’t as I wasn’t in the right state of mind, maybe they ran me with half tanks. I arrived back in the pits and I noticed that the team had changed, the heaviness had shifted slightly. Then I had a strong feeling that I had to race for them.

From David Brabham's blog posted on the last page.

Its not completely clear to me from the amateur footage, but did Roland actually flip after contact with the wall?

No, the car was on its side though. That explains a lot why there was damage to both sides.

There was the amateur footage from the inside of the corner that shows the car getting airborne after hitting the wall, It never landed on its side.

Watch about 25 seconds in.

Hardly surprising, most teams would have been after him given half a chance, I remember reading somewhere that Senna had expressed a desire to finish his career with Ferrari eventually

"RIP Ayrton Senna" is trending worldwide on twitter

Here's a tribute video I made a few years ago

I read that, too. It was Senna's intention to claim 2 more titles with Williams in order to be better than Prost and level with Fangio and then finish his career at Ferrari. It was not Senna's intention to win more titles than Fangio after he had met him in person out of respect. Can't remember from which documentary this theory was.

Also so nice to see how many tributes are going on all around the world. A German TV station aired a new 30 mins documentary about Sennas career featuring Gerhard Berger and german motorsports journalist Karin Sturm. The Mclaren Website seems to be all Senna today with some interesting bits and pieces about the victories in Interlagos 91 and Donington 93.

All in all quite amazing how present Senna is far beyond Brazil even after 20 years.

Don't think its Force India either, they just penned a new deal with SMIRNOFF

Shame Sutil's not still there, he'd give them a lot of exposure

Nah, Sutil isn't a Smirnoff or Smirnoff Ice drinker. He's more of a Watermelon Bacardi Breezer kind of guy.
