Scarbs reports that the Renault unit is still fucked and will be for at least the first few races; the ERS-K has been poorly designed and is malfunctioning and, as such, cannot be used at full power without breaking the engine.

That explains why they're having problems, but Frijns has done 38 laps this morning without problems (albeit 5s off the pace).

Renault and unreliable turbo engines. Nothing new there.

It would be a shame if Renault isn't able to sort this things out just after a few races. I want other teams to challenge Red Bull on track, not beating them just because they have a terrible engine.

It would be interesting to see if Red Bull, in the case of having a terrible first half of the season, decide to keep developing the car, or they drop it to focus completely on the 2015 challenger, a car that may also have a different engine at the back.

I can't believe they made such a mess of it when Martini, as a title sponsor, lends itself to much nicer liveries.

Agreed. Hopefully this livery is still just in the testing phase as well, because it needs some work ...

They are trying to mix it with their dark blue. Hopefully Petrobras don't kill the livery.

Was posted on the previous page already ;)

Taking into account the requirements of different sponsors (Randstad = dark blue), I'd say that looks pretty nice

So much for the 2014 cars being slower than the 2013 cars, Hulkenberg has just lapped quicker than the fastest lap for the 2013 Bahrain GP.

Same layout yes.

Pole time last year was a 1.32.3, so we're still 4s off of that pace. Albeit new cars, green track, harder tyres etc.

Yeah but he was probably on low fuel with new tyres :(
While the fastest lap 2013 was with worn tyres probably
If they can get close 2 or 3 sec of last years times ill be happy, but not this year

:o

They will get down to those times. We're already only 4.7 off of the pole time from last year's race at this very early stage.

They're still not going for times, the track is dirty, the tyres are new and harder, the cars have lost downforce and the power units are still quite unknown.

Everyone knows how a track such as Bahrain gets much quicker during Q1 for example as you have 22 cars on track at once with good tyres. Here you have 11 cars on track at varying times of the day.

Good news for Red Bull: They completed 13 laps.

Bad news: On the 14th it caught fire

Ugh, seconded. At the Jerez test you were complaining that they'd be no faster than GP2. It's the second test, they are nearly as fast, and it's still not good enough!?

Here's a question - pole for the '96 Australian GP was 1:32.371. In 2012 (last year was wet) it was 1:24.922. Does this mean F1 wasn't really F1 in 1996?
