But you might be right.

If that's true why don't they have one already?
They're almost a second faster than the Mercedes of Hamilton. I find it hard to believe it's only due to a better chassis.

I stood trackside earlier. The STR sounds utterly horrendous, like it's misfiring all over the place.

McLaren still list all of their 'minor' sponsors on their site, which was recently updated. Someone (Dennis, IIRC) stated in an interview that their lack of a title sponsor isn't a concern as their overally sponsorship situation is still very healthy.

I'm sure the current livery is just a testing one, too. It was probably thrown on the car so that they had something to launch, whilst waiting for the title sponsor negotiations to finish.

McLaren will see who offers most for title sponsorship. Maybe some sort of 'smart deal' will be reached like they did in 2006 with Emirates airlines.

Even if it's a "Prost GP" moment, the fact that they were in a position to do it straight away (ignoring the issues on day 1 for a moment) is already very very good for them I feel.

Ive seen some videos and pictures from testing trough the days and i never saw a car with DRS opened!!!
Is it forbidden here in Jerez? Is it allowed, and if yes where? I didnt see any lines/signs on track to activate it..

There aren't any restrictions on its use, but there is really no point in them doing so when they are still going through the basics of gathering data on how the cars behave. I wouldn't expect anyone to be bothering with that until they have figured out how to manage the full deployment of ERS.

So we are day 3 of pre-season testing, cars are running 7 seconds slower than same time in 2013 and because Jenson is a mere 4 tenth quicker than Alonso we're automatically set for a season of McLaren domination...

The way the logic works in this forum beggars belief.

Obviously, this is an F1 thread. Just going with the flow.

However, nothing can ever compare to to the V10's, even in this rev reduced form.

allow me to disagree

BMW V10 where the best sounding machines ever IMO. Everything before of after is worse.

will there be boost available like on the 1980s machines?

What is the boost of the 2014 engines? I'd assume it was something like 1.5 or 2 bar but I could be way off.

If I remember correctly, the boost is unlimited this year. I've personally seen data of 2.0 litre I4 WRC pulling 3,7 bar in a shakedown trim nearly a decade ago. I'm quite sure that F1 will probably get somewhere near that, but the fuel flow limit 100kg/hour might be something that limits the boost also. But I would be surprised if they don't go over 3 bar pressure.

Chilton is out in the new Marussia. No pictures yet - word is that the photographer panned at the normal speed and missed him.

Cool, thanks for posting.

Can't decide if I like that or not, tbh - the black sidepods really hide the shape quite well, and help disguise the nosewang a bit. I think the livery is a mild improvement.
