I just wonder if there's also a step hidden by the front wheel, or whether they've got a vanity panel.

the step is usually located ahead of front suspension, let's all hope they won't appear with that

You can just about see it starting to curve smoothly right behind the front wheel IMO, I don't think there will be a significant step.

I like how clean it looks at first sight compared to the 2013 car, but the front will probably be a laugh when we get to see it from other angles.

I'm guessing the F1 designers have never heard of the KISS principle...

yep, this was my immediate thought looking at it

With more powered cars(almost 1000HP V10's) it got to around 315kmh at the end of the str8. I'm very skeptical of 313 at that point with a heavier and less powered car(I'm still waiting to see if the total power will surpass the +-750HP of lastests engines, nevermind the V10s)

All cars will feature wangs, in 2 days time we'll see Mclaren's. That's just how they manage to make F1 even more ridiculous after the step nose fiasco

Didn't know they were going to 8 speeds.

Yeah but the first will only be used once, when the car is still.

Sad that with F1 these days, this isn't an amusing typo of wings but a harsh reality.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112224 So who was actually supporting this rule? The Ferrari, Red Bull and Caterham bosses have now all spoken out against it. Would be rather unsurprising and predictable if they're saying one thing and doing another

Well, they will have smaller wings and aero-efficiency will be more crucial in 2014, so maybe the top speeds will increase, the cornering speeds will definitely decrease.

Let's remember these are turbo charged power units. Just because the horsepower output is less, it doesn't mean top speeds will decrease.

No matter what livery a car might feature, it's impossible for me to be excited, even in the slightest, when there is an effin penis hanging right in the front of it

BTW, from now on, will F1 have something like this before each broadcast initiate?

What is a "wang"? i mean I know it'w a dong, but what does that mean for the noses?

I thought they would be wide and flat this year.

Together with a full season at ART (as posted in the GP2 thread), Stoffel Vandoorne is now confirmed as McLaren's reserve driver for 2014

There's another car unveiling in 25 minutes' time, according to F1 Racing.

There will be a very thin tip of around 150mm in length at most, if not all cars. A wide nose tip is not desired by designers once it's located at a low height and would, therefore, further restrict the amount of airflow they get under the chassis through the turning vanes=>sidepod's cutting edge=> coke bottle area in the back of the car.

With the current regulations, designers will want as much airflow under the nosecone as possible, that's why these restrictions will always lead to things like step noses and wangs. Back in the mid 2000's,a lot of teams were naturally going for low noses, so that's why they had beautiful fluid lines.

edit as I wrote the above before seeing krag's post: well, William's wang seems bigger than 150mm, maybe something between 200-250mm. At least it's not as thin as I was expecting but still... After DW, I think this year's F1 cars will be the ugliest race cars ever :yuk:

The cars would look ok, though, if there was no wang
