Forget being closed to competition except for May (and late July/early August)...here's an idea to get more money at IMS in the winter: snowmobile racing at the Speedway.

Sounds awesome! Thief River Falls (Arctic Cat), Roseau (Polaris) and Valcourt (Ski-Doo) all are within 1000 miles drive away from the Speedway. Would be a great venue for ISOC series, but there's probably a few problems when you try to be realistic. Firstly money in snowmobile racing isn't that big, maybe splitting the ticket revenues for one-off race could be solution. Secondly, correct me if I'm wrong, but Indianapolis probably doesn't get snow every year. Would be pain in the ass to organize the event when there's the real championship season going on and you had to re-arrange the schedule as the season goes.

The T1 area would otherwise be perfect for the race, as seen in the picture. There's enough seats for all the spectators and you could put the snocross track on that MotoGP chicane area without any changes to the area itself. Just one PistenBully and few square meters of snow is enough to do the jumps and layout for the snowmobiles. Man can dream...

After swapping out Venom for RC Cola, Snapple says "fuck it" and slaps it's name on Marco's car for 2014. Look for Dr Pepper to make it's occasional return in 2014 also.

IndyCar tv coverage in Brazil is threatened for the first time in decades. After Band Network has broken its contract with São Paulo Indy 300 previously scheduled until 2019, the channel also implies it won't keep its IndyCar broadcast on its free channel. The reason alleged is cost reduction as the network is trying to recover from a crisis.

IndyCar is still negotiating with other popular brazilian networks like SBT for example, a channel that had a notable partnership with CART in the 90's, but the situation is completely uncertain. It's most likely IndyCar will be shown on pay tv in 2014, probably brazilian ESPN channels, Sportv channels (owned by Globo Network that also has the rights to Formula One) or an exotic and unlikely switch to Fox Sports (that also broadcasts NASCAR races to Brazil).

Bia Figueiredo is currently depending on these negotiations to keep another IndyCar attempt in 2014 as her main sponsor "Ipiranga" announced they will only keep supporting Bia If IndyCar goes to free TV. Situation might be decided in the next days.

personally i'd love to see him do it. also it may get some nascar fans not particularly into indycar racing to pay a bit more attention to the sport.

A real driver doesn't turn down an offer to race in the 500.

He should just do it. Fly to Indy in may, get in the car, go fast.

If you have the chance to run at Indy in a competitive ride and you don't take it I question your commitment to being a race car driver...or being a man.

NASCAR conditioning isn't it. The only races that matter are the Cup races, everything else is a sideshow.

Lets hope his eyes are opened to the world outside of NASCAR before his artificial deadline passes.

This video of Montoya's 1999/2000 season was quite entertaining.

Wow, I never saw the Montoya-Papis contact at Toronto before (about 5:35). Boy I miss CART.

I miss those cars.

Whatever you say about the politics of American Open Wheel over the last 20 years or so, because of egos and bitterness they took the best RACING cars on the planet and threw them away in their quest for money, power and general petty bullshit.

Lola, Reynard, Eagle, even Penske as a manufacturer. Stop being dead and come back and give us such wonderful cars again please. :(

If someone goes back in time to kill Hitler, I hope they do a drive-by on FTG on the way back too.
