Just ten hours before the engines will be fired and trespassers will be shot at the Circuit of the Americas for the second time.

Van der Garde & Perez also have different helmets.

Lewis is also getting a new chassis this weekend after Mercedes discovered large cracks in his chassis. They don't know how long they've been there but reckon it could explain Lewis's recent poor form.

I'm excited to see how Heikki will perform. Top results are crucial for both the team and Heikki's career.
Other than that, I don't see anyone being able to end Vettel's win streak. Hopefully the race is a bit more eventful than the ones at Abu Dhabi or India.

I'm pretty sure Kova won't pass Q2 and won't be too surprised if he get's knocked out already in Q1. So, I expect him to be some sort of non-entity tbh and pretty much a waste of a good car.

Would even have preferred to see what Valsecchi could do albeit I don't rate him.

Other than that, I think the race behind Vettel will be a cracking one. The atmosphere will probably lack to last year's as COTA is not a new thing anymore, the championship is already decided and the Mexicans are not on a high, so not much appeal for public attendance

to think Kovalainen will be right up there is a mistake.

Anything in the top 10 would be a great result for him.

Well think Schumacher is driving the car instead of Lewis with the red helmet

I would never have thought that someone could win 8 consecutive Formula One Grand Prix's (or any races for that matter, be it IndyCar, NASCAR, F1, MotoGP) in my lifetime, with all the variables that can come up and so many good drivers. Especially in such an easy manner.

I was thinking the opposite because:

1) F1 has become incredibly reliable (engines)
2) Many (new) F1 tracks have very wide run off areas
3) when it rains they are starting behind the SC or as soon someone sets a wheel off track SC is going out (not applicable in this case)
3) He is clearly the number one driver from the team

thus, with that in mind, if the car itself is slightly better than all the other cars, and in combination with his gifted talent, I think such streaks are possible nowadays.

Having a whole bunch of consecutive wins in the 80 or 90s would be a lot more difficult, just the fact alone engines were going to the max and thus less reliable.

I think as long as lotus get him on track at the right times Kova should get through Q1, hes not slow and the car is faster than the other midfield teams. Agree he'll be lucky to make Q3, especially as he might be using more tyres doing more running than the others in free practice. Also agree its a shame Valsecchi isn't in the car, almost seems pointless having reserve drivers if they're so rarely used.

2nd DRS zone will run pretty much the length of the start/finish straght.
Bit unnecisary to put a 2nd zone there as down that straght into turn 1 is where we got some of the best racing last year.

1st DRS zone is along the back straght & is unchanged for 2012.

Its very foggy at the track right now, If its still like that in half hour then its likely the start of practice will be delayed.

What has that to do with one driver completely dominating? He hasn't put a wheel wrong since the summer break, so that variable doesn't even matter. And that there's SC periods in this era should mean there's one more random element to deal with. Never seen CART races? Grumpy old men... any reason to discredit the young record breakers.

Mansell was one puncture and one bump from Ayrton Senna from winning 10 in a row.

He never admitted it and neither did Ferrari, but they secretly wanted that winning streak record. Hence the big "scheiße!" and helmet thrown when he came back to the pits after that crash.
