Sorry for this opening post, or lack of.

For this weekend's race, track limits will be monitored more strictly.

Quote:
Drivers given warning over track limits
31 October 2013

Drivers have been warned that track limits will be more strictly governed at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after a number of contentious scenarios in India.

In the notes issued for Thursday's team manager gathering at the Yas Marina Circuit, governing body the FIA made clear that it will not accept drivers running wide and gaining advantage at Turns 6, 9 and 12, the location of the venue's three chicanes.

It has also been clarified that if two drivers enter the Turn 8/9 chicane, which follows on from and precedes a long straight, the leading driver will be reported directly to the stewarding panel if it takes to the run-off area and gains an advantage over his rival.

Meanwhile, if the driver behind does the same and subsequently gets within the one-second DRS window as a result, it must refrain from activating the device.

I wonder if, by turn 9, they mean running over the outside kerb which separates the support pitlane from the track. I remember Alonso and Vettel going over that kerb before turning into the chicane several times;

___

As for the race. Unlike many, I quite like the track. It's a nice setting, there are many fans and I like how the sun sets so nicely.

Will be difficult to equal last year's race, but should be better than India at least.

how did they get the car up there? Probably helicopter.

Wouldn't like to have a mechanical failure of some sort up there, lol.

Presumably an old car, or maybe they're just preparing Webber's engine and gearbox for this weekend?

I will never like Tilke's artifical stadium parking lots, but at least the atmosphere is special here. And last year the race was very entertaining, so I have higher hopes for this than India. I even don't care if Vettel wins, because I'm actually supporting him to beat Ascari's record.
But what I'm really looking forward to is GP2 & GP3 finales.

Newey reversed the front and rear wings and the car flew up there.

Newey is just that good.

Could Kimi be replaced for Abu Dhabi or even the remaining races? - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/111000

that would be a sad ending to an otherwise brilliant partnership.

Regarding my post in the rating thread recently. I think in fact, if I wasn't a member here, and a participant in 'social media' (and therefore left in peace) I would've stopped watching Formula One. By anyone's standards, I think being asked once on December 26th if I was looking forward to the new Formula One season was a bit much.

I realise my main interest is with Formula One and Grand Prix racing past. Broadly speaking 1930s to 1980s.

Kimi was going to fly from Switzerland to Abu Dhabi on Thursday, that was already known by the team last Sundaymorning

That would be totally illogical, despite everything that happened last weekend. Pretty sure Kimi wants to end the championship in third and Lotus would want to get in the top 3 of manufacturers championship.

Absolutely. But this is the media, who like to speculate, assume and report based on little fact. The article actually mentions something similar to what you're referring to and use that as the basis for there being continuing issues between team and driver.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
