Jimmie choking away an insurmountable lead in just one month? NASCAR botching their own restart protocol again? Truex getting permabanned from the Chase?

Shit's hitting the fan and we haven't even begun Race 1 of the Chase yet....

This race will be a single file snoozefest with debris cautions and fuel mileage being the only excitement.

Hoping the tire has a lot of falloff again. Three weeks in a row would be a lot to ask these days, though.

Well, it's a pretty old surface...so there shouldn't be a need to bring hard compounds.

I would bet good money on the 22 car winning the nationwide race yet again.

Starting the chase off with a BANG! by going to one of the most boring tracks.

Who's idea was it to build this track a billion miles outside of Chicago? Oh and Chicago also has a Bears game, White Sox game and a PGA tour event.... what's that equal? Empty seats!!

Never thought it was a good idea for Chicago to have a Cup race and a Bears game on the same day.

Chip Ganassi actually built a track IN Chicago itself, called Chicago Motor Speedway. A $70 million white elephant. It was a 1 mile Martinsville, much wider though. Hosted 4 CART and 2 Truck races from 1999-2002. Torn down years later for a Lowes or Walmart store.

If you look at the crowds its no wonder the track didn't last long. And if the main grandstand looks familiar, its been transported to Milwaukee.

Yep, that was the track in which a 15 year old Kyle Busch nearly won a truck race till he ran out of gas in the last couple of laps.

Didn't the pace car spin there while leading the field during the pace laps for an Indy Lights race?

First race was in 2002. This will be the 12th year of racing at Chicagoland. I only have 3 memories of this track:

The big orange
That sunset a few years back
Justin Labonte

The Cup race is scheduled at the same time as a Bears home game against a division rival, and the Nationwide race starts at the same time as one of the most anticipated college football games of the year. They literally couldn't have scheduled these races any worse.

Pretty much this and the 2004 race where Tony punted Kahne on the restart and the crews got into that brawl.

NASCAR had their schedule done first. In fact most of the Chase races are going up against the local NFL team at home.

Chicago --> Bears @ home
Loudon --> Patriots @ home
Kansas --> Rams @ home (well kinda, only 4 hours apart)
Talladega --> Falcons @ home
Texas --> Dallas @ home
Phoenix --> Cardinals @ home
Homestead --> Dolphins @ home
