Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party, don't know anything about this, but what exactly is with greenpeace and this race? Thanks.

They staged a hugely effective and daring protest which consisted of flying a banner off one of the grandstands and booing during the podium.

Lookout guys, we have badasses over here, etc.

They tried to invade the podium with banners, which is why THEY got booed. Get it right :p

They're protesting Shell, and they have a point. It's just a retarded protest, as usual from them.

Really?

Well as I say, I'm deliberately trying to learn as little about them as possible because that's what they want, but that was the way i heard it.

The fact I'm still confused over what happened hours later suggests their plan to get publicity failed epically.
So I'm glad I got it wrong, for once :p

It was this race because it had Shell as its title sponsor.

I'd love to know what security was doing when all of this was going on? How the hell did they get one of their banners on the front of the podium?

Greenpeace knew they'd be distracted by all the grid girls whose only job are to stand around and look pretty.

they should've done the protests in Abu Dhabi, lot of oil there and so

and to get things right they also should've drank a pint of V Power to taste the Arctic

I don't know, they did some pretty epic protests in France recently by paragliding into a nuclear power plant (to make a point that security breaches are possible). That's quite badass.

I like motorsport, nuclear energy and make a living of building offshore oil facilities. But i still admire their determination and think they are necessary to make a counterweight to the energy lust and the massive hangover we're all headed for.

They has high level passes. Assume FOM will investigate that happening. This was supposedly 2 weeks of planning too. Spectacular.

al least they don't accept money from governments and political parties, like some organizations here, who receive some "aid" from government to "protest" in amazon rainforest

Haha a tear-off in Raikkonens brake-duct was responsible for his brake failure.

They achieved nothing? Even though they weren't given air time during their action, a lot of media picked it up and the last pages of this topic are almost exclusivly going about them. I wasn't aware of the problem they were protesting for, now I am (a bit) and so are lots of people.

Don't know what they hoped to achieve, but I think they will see it as a success.

Seems like a massive failure to me. They never got any TV time at all, and the banner has only appeared in a few photos taken by journalists that only hardcore Motorsport fans care about, and people like us generally don't care about Greenpeace.

In terms of what the clear aim was, of hanging a banner over the start grandstand of a big Grand Prix, that's a pretty terrible result.

It was funny, Matteo (Media delegate) was speaking to a large group of journos after the race and someone asked him 'Why were they not given any TV coverage?' Er...

Seen a video of the podium, looked like the two banners that were on the podium were remote controlled, one popped up at the start of the German anthem, then the other at the start of the Austrian anthem.

Going by his hand in his pocket Alonso is either an action figure man, or that is some very piss poor photoshop right there.
