Cup and Trucks race at Michigan this week. Boring.

However, Nationwide races at Mid Ohio which will be just funny because there will be 20 cautions from all the gravel traps around the circuit claiming cars.

ARCA goes REAL RACIN' this week as they go to the dirt track at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. For once, we actually get to see this race this year, albeit tape delayed on NBCSN August 23.

Discuss.

I don't mind Michigan. It can be entertaining at times. Really pumped for Nationwide at Mid Ohio though.

Springfield might actually get a decent car count. There's 31 entries at the moment counting the two TBA cars, the Kimmels haven't entered their two yet, and I haven't seen Darrell Basham on the entry list either. Honestly wish I was going now. I hope Du Quoin gets the same # of cars.

It looks like Jason is going to be driving Darrell Basham's car at Springfield.

Also, it appears that Jeff Green will be doing something other than parking this weekend. This is from Jayski.com

Quote:
McClure hospitalized; Green in the #14 at Mid=-Ohio: Due to an undisclosed illness that has left Eric McClure hospitalized, he will be sidelined for Saturdays inaugural race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. In McClures absence, Jeff Green, former NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion and teammate to McClure at TriStar Motorsports, will pilot the #14 Hefty/Reynolds Toyota during the Nationwide Childrens Hospital 200. McClures status on returning to competition is week to week.

That's crazy. Didn't see anything in local media about Eric. Hope he's doing well and can return next week at Bristol. I know he wouldn't want to miss his home race for anything.

However, you would figure a ringer would have gotten the call to run in his place though.

The Rolex Grand-Am Series is racing at Kansas this weekend, meaning drivers like Boris Said and Patrick Long, among others wouldn't be available.

It hasn't happened since 2002 and has never happened under Br. France, but a caution free race is quite likely this weekend.

Won't happen, there will be a invisibris caution at some point.

And Danica will wipe out another underfunded backmarker team.

Oh and one or two Goodyears are bound to go pop, plus if anyone goes under 100mph back to the pits they'll throw a caution.

Funny. It was an underfunded "backmarker" team - with a veteran driving it, no less - that took out one of the top teams back in June.

IIRC they had quite a few wrecks in the spring race.

Looks like they're going to be making a real run at the track record in qualifying today. Johnson just put down a lap at 203.355 MPH.

That's just crazy. I read that 20 cars broke 200mph.

Truck practice is looking fun at the moment. Group of about 8-10 trucks racing together. Lapping around 185-186 mph in race conditions.

Coulter just blew a RR and backed it in the wall off T2. Could be an issue with how the teams are setting the trucks up. They have the rear so soft to keep the spoiler out of the air that the fenders are rubbing the sidewalls of the tires for some teams.

The Spring race was pretty good and we were all surprised...

However all the teams have had enough time with this car by now so I'm sure we'll be back to the usual suckfest by Sunday...

Have a slight hope it might be ok though....

Ah but who cares, we're going ROAD COURSE RACING at MIHO! (like DEGA but at Mid-Ohio)

With the fast speeds, at least the race will be over quicker.

I hope NASCAR forgets to throw show cautions and it goes caution free

Will Motors TV show NWS live, I wonder, or will it be reruns of the 1998 Snail Oval Championship?

I've not checked yet, really, so best do that soon.
