As much as I agree with you Fish, 2014 is not in question. The original post was about Massa in 2013 and him deserving his current Ferrari seat.

Oh I agree on that. There is no reason to fire him ATM.

No you are talking absolute rubbish. Massa has had a solid 2013, which clearly you're too blind to see. He had a shaky Monaco, which was partially his fault and partially not, and now he's made a mistake due to the conditions in Montreal and you're calling for his head. That's pathetic. Was I clear enough?

It's your opinion, I respect it. But, still about Monaco, considering only the free practice crash was a mistake, If you watch Formula One at least for more than 15 years in the minimum, you'll have to agree with me that a mistake like that is nearly surreal for a top driver and I repeat, I'm considering only the the free practice crash, not counting the race crash (that's very strange for me aswell - but as I can't prove anything, I won't talk about that crash).

I've never seen any driver commit a mistake like that in Saint Devote, that's shocking......you could put any GP3 driver there, he wouldn't crash like that.

Now another mistake in Canada? Look, how many mistake we need? 2000 mistakes in a row? So we can take Massa out after that? Montezemolo must be very patient, more than I used to think of.

Senna crashed at Ste Devote in 1993 during FP, Herbert had a similar mistake in 1997 but I forget the session. Didn't Alonso crash the corner before Casino Square during FP3 in 2010? Sorry, but expecting F1 drivers not to have accidents is a bit of a surreal belief.

that was quite an interesting and very entertaining qualifying!

Now it will be interesting to see what set-ups the cars are for tomorrow's race.

Herbert you have to consider the track conditions were really bad. Can you crash in Saint Devote with perfect track conditions? Hot weather and everything else? About Senna, gotta confess I don't remember that, but at least, Senna crashed trying 100% excellence, considering he was always taking risks trying to cross the border between fast and "extremely" fast, it's ok to imagine he could crash one time and another. But Massa is not fast, he's slow.....he can't go faster, and still commits absurd mistakes. There's a difference there.

Massa is so slow that he's out-qualified and out-performed Alonso on a number of occasions since mid-2012? That says a lot about Alonso then.

Your point about crashing at Ste Devote is really truly silly. Especially considering you actually contradict yourself...

So what does that mean about Massa's mistake today, which brought on your original rant?

Nobody can deny that Massa's crash in Saint Devote was a very serious case of attention lack. I'm still gathering all Massa's mistakes from 2002-2013 one day, in order to draw a conclusion about him. I think, my opinion, it's not ok to force the idea Massa is a top driver. If Ferrari needs a second good driver or not, that's another story. I simply can't stand Massa and I won't change my mind.

Race Prediction:

Alonso will win. Vettel will have issues. Raikkonen will finish 2nd.

It is Bottas's father's birthday, he mentioned it in Finnish comments at the press conference.

Then you're letting personal bias cloud any form of argument.

Massa has always had that erratic nature about him. Even throughout his best period between 2007 and mid-2009 he was still a little on edge at times.

Ferrari say the 2nd Ste Devote shunt was a mechanical failure. This leads me to think that the first one could also be mechanical. To crash like that on consecutive days - having not had an issue there in previous years - is very, very odd.

Massa is not the fastest driver in the field. No-one is trying to claim that. But he is a good racing driver who is acting as a capable back up to Alonso so far this season.

Can't speak for the mechanics, but Paul's engineer seems like a right simpleton who can't think on the go. He's made a lot if stupid decisions this year.

I think it's weird (but kinda understandable I suppose) that teams can criticise drivers for under performance, but a driver can't point out a teams stupidity.

Spot on. Di Resta does whinge a bit but it does seem that he's got good reason - they've been making all kinds of daft errors with regards to his side of the garage for a few races.

I still remember his performance at Silverstone in the rain in 2008 when he spun off about half a dozen times, or so it seemed. And that was in the middle of a near-championship caliber year too.

He's never been a good wet weather driver.

On another note...

Several drivers have been called to the stewards for not lining up properly at pit exit for the restart of Q2, RAI, RIC, VER, PER, MAL

And he did pretty well during Nurburgring in 2007 plus wasn't that far off at Spa 2008, enough so that he got the win when Hamilton was penalized. He had a very clean race at Monza in 2008 as well.

And yet in wet-dry conditions at Interlagos later that year where no one else got a sniff of victory, whilst Hamilton who had conquered the conditions slid around like some sort of amateur.

I think I'd go more towards giving Hulkenberg a shot next year, but I think teams like Sauber and Williams, for instance, could do a lot worse than employing Massa.

And I go further, I got the conclusion he's not good in wet, dry, drizzle, snow, whatever condition there is. Some people react to my comments (specially on facebook) claiming I don't like Massa because he's not displaying abilities we do expect for a brazilian in F1, because of historical comparisons, it's not that either. I just think Massa is in the wrong place.....that's all. I like justice, that's it.

Massa's season is good so far. Except Monaco and now. But the first five races were good.

What about Grosjean...
